If you were a parent, which path would you take?
to work away in another country for a better job opportunity to provide a more secure financial state for your children and family, at the same time being physically away from your children and missing out in their growing years?
---OR---

to try to make ends meet with what you can while together not have to be away and stay with your children and family all throughout?

Thanks for all your answers. I'm not a parent in that situation, but one of the kids in it (I'm an adult now though), I just wanted to know what most people out there thought about situations like this, and majority says 'staying with the family', that's my answer too. From personal experience, I would have liked being altogether as a family. Thanks for your answers.

Both of my parents have passed away. You never know how much time you have... none of us do. One thing for sure... I don't remember a thing they bought me... but I remember every moment they spent with me.

Life is short... it the end... the only thing you'll take with you is love.... you can't buy time back once its gone.

Th key word is family. It takes both of you to raise healthy, secure children. The more a person makes, the more they spend. Find a good job here or stay where you are at to be a family. You only get that one chance to watch them grow up.

I think you should choose the second one, because you don't want to miss out on life just for money. Keep on looking for a better job though, and as long as you're making ends meet, stay in the country

I have a 19 yr old son.I have struggled for 19 yrs to give my son what he needed. The first 11 yrs of his life I stayed home and lived off s.security.Now I drive a school bus.He is a well grounded man now. I am a single parent and it is alot harder for one then two.I bet if u ask your children they will tell u that they want u more then the money.Plus u will only see your children grow up once. Why would u want to miss that?Good luck.

while the 2nd one is more family oriented i think i would choose the 1st. my mom is like that. she is home prob for about 3 months total each year, but she flys us out to see her alot on long weekends and holidays. she calls every two days to see whats up and when she comes home its a big celebration. so i would have to say the first. i would be traveling but also i would have the money to bring my family out to where i was at the time

stay with the family, its more important than money, you will still make ends meet it might be harder but its better then having to miss out on your kids growing up and not being there for them.

I would say have both. Get a job which requires you to work less hours but get paid more. There are many job opportunities out there you just have know where to look and find yourself a nice spot. There is no either or in life there is just you and what you make of it.
