Each car is inspected a total of 3-4 times before the race for each event. The cars must pass through initial inspection before being allowed on the track for the first practice. This inspection is one of the most thorough as all parts of the car, including all the safety devices, are checked. The cars are inspected again before rolling out to the qualifying line, and once more after qualifying is complete.
If the event is an impound race (i.e. Richmond, Talladega, July-Daytona), the cars are impounded by NASCAR and the teams are not allowed to work on them prior to the race. If the event is not an impound race then the cars must pass through a pre-race inspection before rolling out to the starting grid.
After the race, the top 10 cars and several others selected at random are subject to a post-race inspection.

Before the car goes on the track everyday it goes through inspection, mandatory.
After qualifying they have to go through again. (Some cars have failed this and there qualifying time was disqualified)
After the race they have to go through again.
The teams can send the car through inspection whenever they want (if they changed something and wants to make sure it won't make the car fail inspection later when it really counts)
So at least a minimum of four. Pre & post qulifying, pre & post race.

I think that they get inspected before happy hour and each practice. Then, during qualifying, they get inspected before and after, and then during the happy hour, I think its before and after, and then during the race before and after as well. They have quite a few different inspections.

It depends on how many times they go out on the track each weekend and how many voluntary inspections the teams themselves go through. I believe their are 4 Mandatory Inspections!!!!!
