not only will you put yourself at risk of the infection resurging, the bacteria that were killed off initially were the weakest. the bacteria remaining will be the strongest and the most likely to develop resistance to the antibiotic.

so for yourself and future generations, finish your prescription!

Simple. When taking antibiotics, you will begin feeling better BEFORE the bacteria is completely destroyed. If you stop taking the antibiotic, these bacteria can again begin to multiply and feed off of your body, and the result can easily be you getting sick again. Finishing the antibiotic ensures that the bacteria is completely wiped out. What is more, once the antibiotic has been allowed to fail, the bacteria can develop an immunity to the antibiotic. This will make it stronger and more difficult to destroy, and if you pass on the mutated bacteria to another person, a new strain of illness can develop. This is how epidemics get started, and it is possible in theory for a bacteria to develop into a deadly strain. If you do not want to be responsible for the people around you (as well as possibly yourself) developing a potentially incurable and life-threatening illness, it is highly recommended that you finish your antibiotics. At the very, very least you will prevent yourself from getting sick again in a short period of time.

The reason is because the antibiotics have been able to kill off enough of the bacteria for you to feel better, but some of it still remains in your system. In other words you may feel "cured", but you are not yet. If you do not take all of the prescribed medicine, then the remaining bacteria multiplies and comes back "with a vengeance" . This time it is even stronger, and harder to get rid of. That is why you must always take all of the antibiotics.

Because while you may feel better, you may not be completely cured. The antibiotics may have only just beaten back the infection enough to keep it from showing the symptoms any more. If you stop taking the antibiotic, you will give the bacteria chance to multiply again causing you to get sick again. Always finish out your prescription as given.

You ABSOLUTELY have to finish the ENTIRE round of antibiotics. If you stop when you are feeling better, the bacteria you are attempting to get rid of can build resistance to the antibiotic...and we then have another antibiotic resistant strain of bacteria to contend with. Antibiotice resistant bacteria...kill people, especially children and the elderly. Please take the whole round...it only takes a few seconds a day to swallow a pill.

You should always finish the course. While you may feel better the bugs may not have been completely killed. This is how bugs mutate and become resistant to antibiotics

If you are taking antibiotics and you feel cured and you stop taking you medicine you could become sick again. Just because you feel better doesnt mean you are.

If you are completely cured, you most likely don't have to finish the course of antibiotics. I'd make sure with your doctor that you're completely cured first though and get his opinion on it, but from experience, I'd say no.
