You may have couple things going on. Most likely it is a bad starter. There is a component in the starter called the overrunning clutch. It disengages the starter from the flywheel when flywheel speed is higher than the starter cranking speed. If that goes bad the starter does not disengage. The only fix for that would be to replace the starter.

Buy a new starter, the bendix is bad. It's the part on the starter motor shaft behind the gear that kicks the gear out of the flywheel when the engine starts and spins faster than the starter motor is spinning.

either the ignition switch is worn ou and not disengaging or the starter solonoid has an internal short

Key switch or solenoid is bad and needs to be replaced.

Have your mechanic have a look.
