up to ten years older or ten years younger is fine, anymore and common interests start to wane.

I read an article years ago. It stated that the difference between young and old was 30 years with the observer being right in the middle.

At 16 most people consider 1 to be young and 31 to be old. At 30 the ages shift to 15 and 45. I have always found that to be a good rule of thumb.

I will say one thing though, it does depend on the people. One of the happier couple I have ever known were over 30 years apart. He was very quick on the introduction. Very few people had the opportunity to ask his "Mother" a question before he could introduce the lady as his "Wife". They were nuts about each other and when at a party with them I have sometimes felt the need for a garden hose. They were worse than 16 year olds with no chaperon.

I am female but just thought I would add my two cents. The average man is more concerned with how old a woman looks versus how old she really is. If a woman is older but is hot looking most men could care less. Now if she looks like his mother, or course that will cause a problem. It's about how good, and or young the woman looks and how young her spirit is. Having a sexy woman is far more important to the average man then her age. This applies to men of all age. Most men are just shallow beings lol.

Have you ever seen The Graduate? There was a 20 year difference between the pair.

I would reccomend keeping within the 20 year gap, that way you'll have mroe in common...like more of the same things, and be a similar activity range.

I am 41 1/2
I have 32 year old men wanting to date me, but it is just too boring, and I get too self conscious about things I never even thought of like the music I listen to, or my laugh lines, it's a small price to pay though when you get to be close to a hard body... ooops sorry. Am I bad? hehe

I'm going to be 50 next month and my husband is 37. It's wonderful, life has never been so good. Age is just a number

I dated a 43 year old when I was 25 and that was fine. It was kind of cool, actually, because we came from two different cultural eras and found things interesting in each other that someone from our own generation wouldn't even notice because shim had that trait too.
