Wow I've anwsered this question a lot....
the Wii and PS3 are not really comparable. The PS3 is for hardcore gamers and the Wii is for casual family type gamers. Let em tell you now that you will have an extremely hard time finding the Wii. The PS3 has a number of features coming for it, including Blu-Ray and DVD playability. It has free online services and will be releasing '"Home." It has some very good games out right now, such as Resistance: Fall of Man, Rock Band, Warhawk, Call of Duty 4, and Assassin's Creed. The Wii's good games are usually only from Nintendo's franchises, like Mario or Zelda. Most of the other games for the Wii try to use the controls creatively, but wind up making it confusing and frustrating. Some good games are Super Marion Galaxy, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and soon Super Smash Brothers Brawl. The PS3 is going to be around for a long time, but the Wii is more of a novelty right now, and I doubt that it will be here for an extended time. The prices, just for reference, are:
PS3: 400$ for 40GB version, includes Spider Man 3 Blu-Ray DOES NOT PLAY PLAYSTATION 2 GAMES!
500$ for 80GB version, includes Motorstorm and does play Playstation 2 games.
The Wii is 250$ and includes Wii sports.

The wii's only really fun if you're playing with friends. The PS3 is fun playing single player, and with friends. The PS3 also has more games that support online multiplayer. Also with the PS3 you get so much more like a DVD and blu-ray player. And because the wii doesn't have a hard drive games like Guitar hero 3, which have downloadable content for the PS3, don't have downloadable content for the Wii. The Wii isn't very powerful and doesn't have big cross-platform games like Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4 or GTA IV because it couldn't handle them. I think the PS3 has a much better lineup with current exclusives like Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, and Resistance. As well as these there are the exclusives for the PS3 that are coming out next year like MGS4, Final Fantasy XIII, Haze, Gran Turismo 5 and Killzone 2. The wii doesn't really have any equivalents of these games and it mostly has mini-game collections. Overall I think that the PS3 is better.

Ps3 is much stronger and intended as multimedia player too. Wii is for all-family-fun. It has a funny joystick. That's about it. The weakest console now.

ps3 has better grafics and is mostly for single player games. the wii has more for cartoonish games and for muliplayer but has some single player games. the wii is really fun though.

depends on what kind of gamer you are..
if your a hard core gamer and looking for serious games go for the ps3...
if your not much of a gamer and looking fun games go for the wii....

well, if your rich GET THE PS3, but if not the wii is 4 u.i just dont think that the wii is THAT fun.im not sayin that the is is bad.
