Why the heck do people still believe in religion and God? I am not an atheist; I'm agnostic because, obviously, we don't know much at all about the universe and how we were created. It's stupid to come up with an answer when we haven't got a definitive one. So I ask those of you who believe in God: why are you so sure? Yes, clearly there was something or another that created everything, but that doesn't mean it was supernatural or God. If you are so sure that your religion is correct, then I laugh at you and everyone else who is so sure that THEY are right. There's absolutely no proof behind Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, or other religions. If you're going to cite your religious text to say that that's why you're right, then think about how likely it is that it isn't mythology. Regardless, NO ONE has the correct answer to how we were created, and to claim so is silly. Why do people believe in such a silly and obscure tradition? We're no longer in the Dark Ages.

I agree with you 100%. I find those who insist that they are correct and that they know the only correct way to be and to believe arrogant and naive. No one could possibly know the actual truth. And to cite ones own religious text as "proof" that they are correct is ridiculous. If people stopped claiming to know what "god" - whatever that word actually means- wants and how he/she/it would view and deal with certain situations this world would be a much better place. The reality is, no one knows and to attempt to claim that you do is foolish.

I am a Christian, when ever you become born again and believe in Jesus with all your heart He sends his Holy Spirit to live in you. I don't have to wonder, I know God is real because I have a personal relationship with him. Look at it this way, There are alot of so called Christians out there, You see them but you also see some who are completely different don;t you, like say Billy Graham, or Mother Theresa, these are real Christians who have the Holy Spirit living inside them. They do stand out above other Christians don't they, if you will admit it, you have seen them. They volunteer, they give their money, Yet you never hear them telling you this, they might at most tell you they are praying for you, yet at home daily they are praying for your soul, my grandmother prayed for me like that, she was the only one, but she did, If you will start watching, you will notice two kinds of Christians, now go ask the kind that is different this question, and they will tell you, thousands of missionaries are overseas this Christmas away from family and friends, why, to tell others about Jesus. Why would people do that, I will tell you why, because they know what I know, Jesus is real, The Bible is truth, and I pray that you get to reading it. He is the Potter, we are the Clay, and that is just the way it is.

Should religion cease to be, spiritual would still exist. I think then that spirituality would have a chance to surface in its true form. It has been maligned with a religious context and covering. Read the Sumer account of the earth's history, then you will know the truth. It is called legend because it is so ancient. That doesn't make it any less real as an historical account. You will see what the bible took and turned into a farce.

It doesn’t really sound like you want an answer, but I’ll answer anyhow just incase someone really wants to know.
I believe in the supernatural because I have experienced it. Many have felt the presence of the Divine, Guardian Angel or other spirit/supernatural being. So it’s not all based on what we are told. That doesn’t help you keep your faith. It’s what you experience that stays with you.
By the way, most consider these spirits to be part of the natural world and not supernatural.

you need to redefine what dark age we are in ... the dark age of charade science with its unfalsifiable theories. Look for the research of dr helen wambach in life before life, or dr raymond moody, life after life ... your materialism is refuted ...
You also choose to call ALL - universally ALL religious people stupid and yet you haven't obviously reviewed all the scientific evidence for their beliefs that supercede materialism.
I think your assertion of stupidity is premature.
Even alien abductees according to professor john e mack are interacting with life and beings that are beyond materials as we understand them and these events witnessed mirror the energy over matter paradigm described in the gospels

Okay so we're not in the Dark ages anymore, well duh!

We all have our opinions on religion and spirituality. That doesn't give anyone the right to question our belief system.

I don't believe in god I believe in gods. Does this make me right to you maybe not, but it is right to me. Do I care what you think? Hell no its my belief not yours so therefore your opinion means nothing to me.

So therefore I agree nobody has the right answer but we all have our own answers and that is what counts!

the spirits told me :oP

actually they did , so with personal experiences ... it would be silly of me to ignore and believe the opposite
however being sure of my beliefs is in no way saying that mine is correct and all others are wrong
mine is correct for me
