It doesn't hurt.... it depends on your stylist. I get them sewn-ed in because I am growing out my hair. Buy human hair preferably remi I will provide a forum that will help you and a few links that has helped me tremendously.

Have your stylist (licensed) cornrow your hair and use a net to protect your hair from damage. She/He will sew the weft to your natural hair which is braided. It should last 3-6 months. Go to your stylist for trim and tightening your hair.

Here are the links as promised

Sew in wefts - Wefts are the basis of most hair extensions - whether they are natural hair, or synthetic. Pictured above, wefts are long sewn together strings of hair. Sew in wefts are usually done at the salon, but really aren’t tremensdously difficult to do yourself, but it is necessary to have patience and the help of a friend. What you want to do (or what will be done to you in a salon) is to create a very thin cornrow that spirals around your head, starting at about an inch off of your crown. This is the bulk of the time issue with this method, it takes sometimes quite a few hours to get the tiny cornrow put into your hair. You want several spirals - the more spirals you have, the thicker your hair will be. There is nothing uglier than hair extensions that are not quite thick enough.

Once your cornrow is complete, you simply sew (yes, with a needle and some sturdy thread that matches your hair) the wefts on to the cornrow. This method is the longest lasting and most natural looking of all of the hair extension methods, I think, but in a salon it will cost big bucks, mostly due to the time it takes your stylist. Make sure your hair extensions are dyed the proper color first, but once they are in your hair, you can cut them into the perfect style for you!

I hope this helps

well I THINK the difference between real and fake hair extensions is...

real: come from actual people (EXTENSIONS...NOT WEAVE)
fake: come from a horse i believe (WEAVE)

I would suggest going with the real hair for extensions...I mean its not overly expensive (go to a beauty supply store) and..I just think real extensions always look better than weave.

you have 2 options (really 3)
1. get it glued in (shouldnt cost that much, and doesnt last long...maybe a month if you're lucky)
2. get it sewed in (last long...kinda expensive)
3. fussion (last for like 6 months!..but very expensivie)

Glue isnt the best option if you ask me....tracks on the extensions become loose and start to "sag" and the glue isnt healthy for your hair.....and once my track was falling down...so I just put some glue on it myself...and when we took it out...we had to scrap all the glue and some of my real hair out!!! so...maybe not glue

sewed in...people say it hurts..but I guess I was lucky because it didnt hurt me at all... ^_^ it just took so long. basically they'll braid your hair, and then take a track and some thread and sew it into the braid (no one will be able to see the braids) the only bad thing i didnt like was that it made my hair look...so...volumized? almost poofy? but still really good, and it fell down a bit more after a few days...so it was all gravy ^_^

and I've never had fusion before but I know it's very expensive but last an awfully long time.

I think you should ask your hair stylish before you go what kind of extensions you should get..because thats what me and my mom did...and she told us the exact brand and everything...we just had to match it to my hair color and that was it.

and dont be scared to ask the stylist whats going to happen! its your hair and you want it how you want it! so ask questions to make sure its done RIGHT! (and you might want to get someone to do your hair thats had them, and that knows how to do them...not just someone that knows how to do them)

My sister is a cosmetologist and put real hair extensions in my hair. I would advise you NOT to get them. They ruin your hair and often fall out within a week especially if your hair is short. They typically cannot sew them in if your hair is very short. I would advise you to get fake if you can but be careful because I would hate for you to ruin your hair if you dont have to!! Good luck!

They staple them to your skull. No not really. It is arduous though, takes a long time.
The real hair ones (depending on what country you are in) get woven on in longer strips. They do not hold in very well.
The synthetic ones are even more arduous to get put in - they take AGES, as they get put in little bit by little bit.
They sometimes do not wear very well.
It is all tremendously expensive - why dont you just look after your own hair and let it grow? you will be amazed how fast it grows - mine was in a jaw length bob 2 and a half years ago, and now its way down below my shoulder blades. Be patient - you cant beat the real thing.
