I know some people are that good people, but they do not have a relationship with Jesus.

They say they have no reason to believe in God. This makes me sad. I know that is their decision and I do not preach to them. I just try to be a good example, but it does trouble me.

I believe the only way to avoid Hell is to be a Christian. If you do not accept Jesus, then His sacrifice is in vain.

I know God wants these people to believe, but they set up a mental roadblock. One of my friends said there is no scientific evidence to be a Christian over any other religion. He is missing the point. You have to have faith. Scientific evidence only gets you so far. For one thing, science is always changing and can only teach us so much. You need to use your heart to decide the real truth and the Holy Spirit will let you know for a fact that Jesus is your Savior.

It troubles me to know people that have turned away from God. Has anyone else had friends like this?

Why do some people think their way is the only way?

You are missing the point, your friend isn't. Faith is belief when there is no proof. In other words faith has no factual support.

Scientific evidence is 'state of the art'. It gets you as near to the truth as the most up to date methods make possible.

Faith never changes because in the case of Jesus it relies on 2000 year old handed down stories which would not even be admitted in a court of law because they are mostly hearsay and they have no historical or scientific proof. In short, a fable does not need to change because no serious attempt is being made to verify it, the faithful are quite content to believe in a lie.

And for you to be 'troubled' by your belief that the only way to avoid hell is to be a Christian, such arrogance. You are saying that the Jewish faith which spawned Christianity is going to send Jews to Hell. The Muslim faith which runs parallel to Christianity and even accepts the existance of Jesus but not as the Messiah, is wrong and that all Muslims are doomed to Hell. You are saying that all Bhuddists are going to Hell despite following a religion half a millenium older than Christianity and infinitely more peaceful and forgiving, are also bound for Hell. And that all followers of any other religions and all non religious people are bound for Hell.

So you are right and all who don't agree are damned to Hell. What meekly put total arrogance.

Your question was making sense until I got to the point that said that if I was not a "Christian" that I would go to hell. I am a true person of God, I am Roman Catholic and have never understood why "Christians" feel that it is their way or hell.
I don't worry about scientific evidence. I know that God wants us to believe and not to question. I do know that he is the true saviour and I am filled with the Holy Spirit.
I had a Son who for years was a "so called" Atheist. I tried my hardest not to push religion on him and let him see the positive effects it had on my life. He was in a horrific car accident and four of his best friends were killed and he and another boy lived. He was in the worst condition possible. I prayed over him and knew that what I was doing was right. He will never be fully recovered but he now has a true belief in God. Sometimes being too pushy and threathing people with hell only pushes them further away. Sometimes it just isn't the right time for them. You must remember, this is a free country with a lot of different organized religions, and each on is right in their own belief. That is what God wanted, belief. God never created one man to be better than another. He knows there are lost sheep and in time always offers them his love. Whether people choose to accept him is their specific choice.
I love God. I know is Good. I know that God controls all. I don't doubt him whatsoever.
Give others a chance, don't push, but show them positive aspects in a less harsh way. God watches over everyone and gave his Son so that our sins may be forgiven.
Be strong in your faith and let God handle the others.

People refuse to accept Jesus because look at the church that is trying to sell him to people. Most of the "Christians" that I know are some of the most ill tempered, mean spirited, jerks around. And what makes it better is just because these people "take Jesus" into their hearts means that they are going to this imaginary place called heaven and I am going to hell even though I seriously attempt to live a good life. I believe in Jesus, but not as "get out jail free card" that so many people seem to fall back onto. Anyway, I think all of Christianity has become is a way to oppress others into behaving and thinking a certain way.

What do you mean by "some people"? Most of the people in the world don't believe that Jesus was a god at all. And when you say that you "have to have faith," how is that different from every other religion? Every religion requires faith in what your parents told you to believe. Your religion is just another aspect of your culture. If you speak English, that is most likely because your parents speak English. If you are a Christian, that is most likely because your parents are Christians. People should not be punished for eternity for being of a different culture. That, and the violence religion inspires, are the reasons why I am no longer a Christian.

Most people do not accept the fact that they are born a sinner;
[ Romans 3:22-23; 6:23;<,< James1:15].

Some people believe that good works alone will get them into Heaven, but that is not what Ephesians 2: 8 - 10 teaches.
[See also Romans 10: 9 - 17 ].

There will always be those people in your life. Don't feel bad for them! They're doing what they want to do. Why is your way any better for them? The only reason Christians believe in God is because they believe the Bible, which may only be a book compiled by mortal men at the Council of Nicea. If people don't view our religious book as theirs, or even as holding any truth, how can you logically blame them for not having faith. Where is the basis for them at all?

Don't be upset. In reality, we Christians have no tangible proof that God exists in our incarnation either. We just believe, just as they believe he doesn't exist. To them, the entire thing may sound like a fairytale.

Thank you for your sincere concern and your belief that your religion is the one and only true way.

You'll find that there are many people who believe that the path they're one is the correct one for themselves and that's not through Christianity. They feel their beliefs are just as valid as yours and aren't likely to change with the threat of hell and eternal damnation. Would you want someone who is only a Christian because they feel that's the only way to escape some sort of punishment for not being a Christian?

Peace to you, I'm glad you've found peace in your religion. Try to understand that some of us have found that same peace in other religions or in no religion at all.

Listen, you seem like a pretty intelligent person.
Do you really believe that some child is born in let's say Pakistan and never even heard of Jesus.
Then one day when the child is about 14 years old, an earthquake erupts near his village and 749 people including this child are immediately killed by the event. Another 437 die in the aftermath.

Do you really believe all those people are going to Hell???

Can't you just keep your own faith and give the other 80% of the people on this planet a break.

I have a lot of friends like that. I was like that for a very long time until God opened my eyes. What I learned is that none of us are "good people." We have sin in our lives. Luckily I know Jesus paid the price for that sin and I worship him and do good things to others as a response to my salvation. I try to let the way I live my life reflect who I know Jesus is. That's what we can do is to live our lives positively and don't hold back from the Truth, but to ask God to help us know when is the right time to share it. Just think... You might be the only "Jesus" your friends ever see. That's what Jesus calls us to do--represent Him truthfully and justly without hypocrisy and to love. That's all you can do; you can't force them to change.

And remember... They will always ask questions. Be strong in why you believe what you believe. Asking questions is a good thing. WE need to ask questions of our own faith, because this is how we mature as followers of Christ.

Even though I believe in Jesus Christ and the Catholic God. I am not Catholic of Christians because they judge people so much. I'm not saying they are the only religion that does so, but seeing "Gays are wrong"
"God hates Fags" its gets sickning.

And as someone who believes in a loving and forgiving God. The idea that a group is worshiping a God that hates people because of sexuality....is very disturbing
