Rather than paying the ridiculous cost for Microsoft Office (as someone noted, it often costs nearly as much as the computer!), why not give one of the alternatives a try?
The best one is OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org). It has many of the features of Microsoft Office, is easy to use, has the ability to import and export Microsoft Office documents, and is free!
Depending on your needs, you might also find Google Docs useful (http://www.google.com, select Other, then Documents). Again, a free alternative.

The way manufactures keep the price of a new pc as low as possible is to not include any extras. Microsoft has the bulk of the market share for it's software and they have no need to bundle it at a cut-rate price.
Some manufactures allow you to add the software in your purchase, and sometimes it is already in the price (like DELL), but you pay extra for it one way or the other.

The same reason you have to buy World of Warcraft or Sony Vegas or any other piece of software. Because they are part of Microsoft Office, which is a powerful office suite that most users don't want or need.

Computer is a hardware only,,even it is without operating system..as xp or 2000 or linux,,,and when you buy it you have to ask if the price include a licensed operating system or not,,,as regard Office Package ,,this is totally not included in any package of a computer as it has a nearly the same price of a whole computer,,so it is not included

Office is not a standard program that comes with new PC purchases. Its usually an add-on that you can get at a discount if you buy it at the time pf purchase.
