It happens to people in all religious groups. Why Christianity alone should have the answer. It is because of the accumulated deeds of past lives which is carried over to this life like a balance sheet.

Psalms 73:1 A psalm of Asaph.
God is truly good to Israel. He is good to those who have pure hearts. 2 But my feet had almost slipped. I had almost tripped and fallen.
3 I saw that proud and sinful people were doing well. And I began to long for what they had. 4 They don't have any troubles. Their bodies are healthy and strong. 5 They don't have the problems others have. They don't suffer as other people do. 6 Their pride is like a necklace. They put on meanness as if it were their clothes. 7 Many sins come out of their hard and stubborn hearts. There is no limit to their proud and evil thoughts. 8 They laugh at others and speak words of hatred. They are proud. They warn others about the harm they can do to them. 9 They brag as if they owned heaven itself. They talk as if they controlled the earth. 10 So people listen to them. They lap up their words like water.
11 They say, "How can God know what we're doing? Does the Most High God really know that much?" 12 Here is what sinful people are like. They don't have a care in the world. They keep getting richer and richer.
13 It seems as if I have kept my heart pure without any reason. It didn't do me any good to wash my hands to show that I wasn't guilty of doing anything wrong. 14 Day after day I've been in pain. God has punished me every morning. 15 What if I had said, "I will speak as evil people do"? Then I wouldn't have been faithful to God's children. 16 I tried to understand it all. But it was more than I could handle.
17 It troubled me until I entered God's temple. Then I understood what will happen to bad people in the end. 18 God, I'm sure you will make them slip and fall. You will throw them down and destroy them. 19 It will happen very suddenly. A terrible death will take them away completely. 20 A dream goes away when a person wakes up. Lord, it will be like that when you rise up. It will be as if those people were only a dream.
21 At one time my heart was sad and my spirit was bitter. 22 I didn't have any sense. I didn't know anything. I acted like a wild animal toward you. 23 But I am always with you. You hold me by my right hand. 24 You give me wise advice to guide me. And when I die, you will take me away into the glory of heaven.
25 I don't have anyone in heaven but you. I don't want anything on earth besides you. 26 My body and my heart may grow weak. God, you give strength to my heart. You are everything I will ever need. 27 Those who don't want anything to do with you will die. You destroy all those who aren't faithful to you. 28 But I am close to you. And that's good. LORD and King, I have made you my place of safety. I will talk about everything you have done.

This has nothing to do with God. There's a kind of weird "caste system" that exists in high schools everywhere. The nerds will always be towards the bottom of the social ladder. The preppies will always be at the top. When high school is over, all those labels will mean diddly squat.

>> Can christianity tell why good things tend to happen to bad
>> people, and bad things tend to happen to good ppl?
Yes. Here's a parable to illustrate...
There was a plantation owner in the deep south whom often criticized his black servant for the belief in God which his servant professed. He would say, "How can you believe there is a Loving God when you are an uneducated slave and have nothing? Look at me, I don't believe there is a God and I am a rich and educated plantation owner in need of nothing."
The black servant could not think of a good answer to his master's question.
One day, the plantation owner took his shotgun, his servant, and his dog out in a row boat on a nearby lake to do some duck hunting. Shortly, a flock of ducks flew over and the plantation owner fired up into the flock and two ducks fell to the water. The dog immediately jumped into the water and began swimming after the one duck which was still moving and paddling away as fast as it could.
The black slave watched for a moment and then turned to his master. "Massa, why dat dog be troublin' dat duck as be movin' away, when d'other duck as not be movin' be easier t' git?"
The plantation owner replied, "That is easy. The dog is smart. It knows the duck which isn't moving is dead already and he can get that duck anytime he wants. But, the duck which is moving away might get away if he doesn't go after it now."
The black slave countered, "Yes, massa, dat devil be smart, too, an' he be troublin' me 'cause he know I be gittin' away; but you be dead in d' spirit already an' he can git you anytime he want."
God bless.

Hello,
The New Testament gives no guarantees that you will be blessed and live the Life of Riley if you strive to be a good Christian. In fact it warns of trials and tribulations you may suffer on this earth for being a good one. Keep up your faith, belief and follow the sort of life Christ teaches and only good things will come in the next life.

It's good that we can simplify this deeply theological matter into a jocks v. nerds debate. Christianity tries to explain this, but falls flat on its face doing so. Free will, original sin, and Satan tend to be the top three things to blame such occurences on. Obviously, an omnipotent God has no say in such things...
Edit: Oh yeah! Completely forgot about that whole God is testing you and your faith thing that they like to bring up as well. I love that, because apparently, in order to test one person's faith, and make them stronger, God has no problem killing other people close to that person, as if they were no more than props in the person of faith's life (a la Job). That is a wonderful way to look at the world....

Being a Christian is not a talisman against suffering. Christians, as well as everyone else, live in a world ruled by the devil and full of people who cannot control their selfish desires, so we all face the consequences of that.
And while Christians manage to avoid the suffering caused by bad habits like smoking, gambling, fornication, dishonesty etc, they have the problem of persecution by Satan and hi agents.
But no matter how good a life those preppy people seem to be having now- they'll get theirs in the end. It's just a matter of time.
A man called Asaph also wondered the same as you. Please read Psalm 73. He wrote it.

Job was a righteous man. Have you read that book in the Bible recently? Job suffered more than any of all the nerds in your school put together.

That's one of the reasons I no longer follow the Christian religion and have been questioning the existence of God in general.
