Like the other guy said, if they ask for a bag/box of 16 oz. it's a pound (lb), not 2 cups. Volume & weight are NOT interchangeable in cooking.
But, a third of your 48 oz box is 16 oz. (48 divided by 3 = 16)

1 cup is 8 oz and 8 x 2 is 16. So 2 cups, my dear. I hope your mac and cheese comes out great!

a cup is 8 oz. Unless you refer to those chinese tea cups they hold just 6 oz. You're cooking so it's 8 oz cup so it's 2 of 8 oz cup size! Are you putting in liquid on the macaroni or are you asking the weight of the macaroni? It is pounds if it's weight but it is less messy doing it by the cup then trying to put a pound in all at once! You seem to know that!

Susan D's right, but since 98% of people don't have accurate kitchen scales (heck, even HAVING a kitchen scale is something to behold!!) So, here's the math:
you have a 48 oz box of macaroni and you need 16 oz.......48 divided by 16 is 3.........so, you're going to have to "guestimate" what a third of the box is if you don't have a kitchen scale.....Or, you could triple the recipe and use the entire box of macaroni.......Hope this helps........Enjoy!!

2 cups
There are 8 ounces in a cup
Some measuring cups have both measurements on them, so it makes it easier to convert.
