Call the doctor and tell him/her what you are seeing. I wouldn't let something go when it is out of the normal range.

My advice is based on the assumption that your son has stopped vomiting. If he has continued to vomit over this time, ignore what I say.

There are two causes for his watery stools, the infection and the diet. If you continue a BRAT diet this long, there are scarcely enough solids and fiber to make a firm stool. I would increase the rice, Rice Krispies and add some fat to the diet in the form of margarine or vegetable oil. Add more solids food at each feeding. Good luck.

Your doctor gave you sound advice about the BRAT diet, fluids and maybe Pedialyte for the electrolytes. About the only medicine that you might try would be Bismuth subsalicylates (such as those found in Pepto-Bismol). They are one of the safest ways to treat the symptoms of diarrhea. Treatments containing bismuth will help control cramping, pain, loose stools, gastrointestinal toxins, and abdominal contractions. Bismuth is safe for both children and adults.
Other OTC medications are generally not recommended for children.

try giving him some gaterade... get some fluids in him - maybe some soup....

if he's had diarrhea then you want to keep him hydrated. with normal bowel movements your bowels absorbs the moisture from everything moving through. when you have diarrhea, you don't have a chance to absorb the moisture, so you want to make sure he's having a good amout of fluids through out the day.

keep checking his temp, keep his fluids going, and try to get some soup in him... if this continues through the weekend or he makes a big change in his behavior, get his doctor paged and have her call you back - they'll let you know what to do... good luck hunny :)

hope the lil guy feels better!!!

He could be dehydrated, I have never heard of the little black specs I would take him just to be safe. Does he have a fever at all? If he does then I would definitely take him. 5 days is just too long.
