A dear friend of the family who was one of the Nuns that taught at my father's elementary school (he is in his 90's now) used to say "when you talk to yourself. at least you are having an intelligent conversation". Talking to ourselves can be a way of reinforcing important information in our memories or calming oneself in a stressful situation. I think that you are fine, just introspective.

It honestly doesn't sound like a mental health issue; it sounds like somehow your girlfriend had a new experience and loved it. Perhaps she saw a bondage film, read a suggestive piece of literature, did some research online, or even met someone with whom she had an 'experience'. I'm not trying to imply anything about your girlfriend, but you have been together for a very long time, and she might have gotten bored with your routine. Yes, perhaps you are going at it hot and heavy, but she might not be as good about communicating her desires to you as you assume she is. As another girl who has had a very hard time explaining what I want to my boyfriend, I would say that perhaps she was trying in the best way she knew to get you into her newest desire. You might be grossed out by the fact she wanted you to do something sexual that also included her ***. So what? There are girls out there who are disgusted at the idea of putting a penis in their mouth. Everyone is different--perhaps you can sit down with her, explain calmly what you did and did not like about the experience, and suggest that you try new things at a slower and more forgiving pace. Do some research on methods of anal interaction, see if there's anything you're willing to try, and be as open-minded as possible. Also, suggest that she take a nice, warm, thorough bath and clean up very, very well next time...it won't smell. Good luck to both of you. It sounds like you love her very much, so don't give up, just open up the lines of communication a little more. I'm sure you two can find a middle ground and take even more pleasure in both your sex life and how well you understand each other.

It's not all that uncommon. My Dad has done it his whole life and he is an intelligent person with a normal productive life. I think it just means you have a lot going on in your head and the best way your organize your thoughts is verbally. Of course, other people might think you're odd, but if you are in control of yourself then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Some people just think out loud. If you realize what you are doing, and it is just a habit that you have, I see nothing wrong with it. Just watch what you say. I notice my husband doing that, when he is working on something difficult. I always say, if you talk to yourself, at least you know you are talking to someone intelligent. It can become a bad habit though, if you do it often.

Think there's nothing wrong with you. Most people do it. Sometimes it's just easier to get things organised when you say them especially when there's a lot on your mind at the time and you want to focus on what to do next. It's just another way of coping with things you've experienced or planning what you've got to do - there's people talking to themselves when they sleep/ dream.
Or when you have to write an essay or a letter and don't know how to start or how to finish the thought/ link it to the next paragraph etc.
I catch my self doing it when I have to learn things like poems, vocabulary, dates or formulas just to memorise them better and longer.

I talk to myself too without noticing, I talk about what I should do, what will I do tomorrow or just random things, I think it's easier for you to face your problems and worries when you say it out loud. I havent told mom (she'd think I'm nuts) but, do you really think there's something wrong with you? I think its healthy and sometimes easier to talk to yourself than other people. Take care :]

Don't worry about it. You're not nuts (unless you are carrying on conversations and talking both parts)
It doesn't mean anything but you should try not to do it when anyone is around. You can train yourself to do this by just being aware of it.

Dont know about your mental situation per se but you really are naive given all that about yourself. You DO realise that with the info you have given I could get credit and so on in say you father or mothers name.
This is potentially extremely dangerous...

Sometimes when people are thinking so hard it comes out vocally and they dont even realize it. Now, if you are answering yourself, then theres a concern.
