The diffrence is the number of strings, Guitars have six strings, bass guitar has four thick strings that have a much lower frequency thus the title of bass guitar,
Bass guitars tend to be bigger, longer, and heavier than six strings,
You can learn either without the other, I play guitar so I can also play bass, however it doesnt really work both ways, guitar players can play both because bass is primarily single notes, bass players have to learn guitar because it employs more complex chords and techniques,
Not to say bass is easy or that a guitar player can play bass better than a bassist

A typical bass has 4 thick strings, while a guitar has 6 lighter strings. I can't say if it's easier to learn one or the other, because the first time I played a bass, I'd been playing guitar for about 3-4 years. If you can already play guitar, it's easy to pick up the bass. The opposite is probably true to a lesser extent. Drums are the easiest instrument to start. Look at the White Stripes drummer. She sucks something awful, but it gets the job done. I could play a simple beat instantly the first time I sat down at a drum set. There's no reason why you can't play all three (I do), but I suggest you start with the guitar. It will teach you more about music than the other 2 and it's the only one you can play by itself and sound complete (you know I'm right, bassists and drummers).

Your average guitar is 6 strings, (EADGBE) and your average bass is 4 strings (EADG). The bass's notes would be an octave lower than the guitar's. I think that you should learn acoustic guitar first. This would make it easier to pick up an electric guitar, and if you were interested, a bass. Drums are a totally different subject, and you should only try that if you have good rhythm. There is no "easier" instrument, because the guitar has an infinite number of chords, bass is just....hard, and drum rudiments (and such) can get difficult as well. However, on a beginner level, I would recommend the guitar, because it would be easier to play songs familiar to you on the guitar than if you were to play bass or drums. Either way, all three instruments are rewarding and fun to play, so good luck!

Bass has 4 strings (normally, but you can get 5 string and 6 string basses and I think I saw a 7 string somewhere)
Guitar has 6 strings (but you can get 7 and 12 strings)

Bass plays along with drums in a band, guitar is on its own mainly (lead guitar)

It helps if you know guitar first because you play fast on guitar and you have to form chords, bass is all notes.

Guitar is a higher sounding instrument but bass is very low.
Guitar's do wicked solos, basses do "breakdowns"

Hope that helped.

Bass is an octave lower in sound and generally has 4 strings and no interval change to the B and E high strings.

It's easaier to play than guitar because the intervals are constant on all strings and frets
