Yes because sometimes when you have a cold, you're stuffed up and breathe more through your mouth. Also, it takes a lot of fluids to help thin out the mucous so you can cough it up (or blow it out) to help you recover. Also, if you're running a bit of fever, you are more thirsty. Take good care of yourself and drink plenty of fluids. I hope you feel better soon.

It is not unusual. If you are running a slight fever, it can make you slightly dehydrated and thus thirsty.
If you breathe through your mouth because your nose is stuffed, your throat will become dry and want to drink more.
If you have a sore throat---drinking will soothe the pain.

Drinking lots of fluids will flush your system and you will get well quicker
