Diderot said this a few years ago and I am just repeating it. What do you think?

Get real people.

YES, all children are criminals.

What is meant by the question is that children have no innate moral code. They will take what they want when they want it, regardless of whose it is. They will lie, cheat, and attack when they don't get their way (much like liberals).

They require a home environment to educate them about social mores so that they can live in a society that has moral standards.

Before they acquire these, they are criminals.

No. They've just haven't learnt yet to what is acceptable in society and it's up to the parent figure to pass that knowledge on.

Church goers would say all kids are sinners. But again, they don't know any better and what is classed as a crime or sin?

So once they've grown up to a responsible age, societies laws and rules will then judge them as a criminal or not.

I disagree, Children are born primitive little animals, programmed to survive. It is up to society to teach them that selfish criminality is not in the greatest good. Everyone gets along better if they stick to the rules and everyone is happier for a bit of love and appreciation. I feel so sorry for todays undisciplined misled kids.

Children learn through example, so they are not born criminals, but tend to become them when not taught right from wrong, lack of parental guidance is usually the reason for them turning in to criminals.

They are not criminals but most are free spirits. The snag is that many children do break the law but this can be said of so many adults also.

I think all children are born potential criminals. But answering your question, I think he was getting at the idea that children don't know right from wrong until they're taught the difference. In that case I still disagree with him, because some children have learnt that!

A big philosophical point, this one!

Are we all born innocent and left to our own devices would commit nothing but kindnesses, until the big bad world corrupts us?

Or are we born amoral and selfish, in need of socialising and inculcating with morality?

I don't know the answer, but it seems to me that children who are neglected and taught nothing seem to head for evil rather than good!

No no, but they do need guidance from someone with high moral standards in order to get them on to the right track. People are individuals, some are raised with nothing and go on to do nothing with their lives. Some are raised in bad homes and become decent people, many do not.

if they trained in right and wrong from the word go, and given the correct balance of discipline, consistency and love then you give them the best chance in life at not becoming criminals.
