I have a sort of "Masjid Uniform" ---something that I always wear to the masjid: Long skirt, long top, jacket, and of course my hair covered. I usally use the jacket to cover my feet while I'm sitting there. I do not cover my face with niquab at all; and I dont wear fancy "thobes".
You Do Not have to "dess up" or dress fancy at the masjid. Its not like church at all. Years ago, I used to wear jeans, oversized t-shirt, and a long jacket (to cover my behind)--and call it a day. Nobody cares how you look at the masid. The main thing to remember is this rule: at the masjid, only show your FACE, HANDS, and FEET. Do Not show skin, cleavage, and do not wear tight pants that shows your behind. The masjid ia all about being conservative and concentrating on Allah's message.
You'll never go wrong with these basic items:
--Long skirt
--Long, big, loose fitting top (with long sleeves)
--Jacket (wind breaker of some sort)
--2 scarves (one to warp your hair in a "bun", and the other to drape down your shoulders)
OR--a Loose Fitting Top & Loose Fitting Pants
PS-------------I'm African-American, born & raised in America as a Muslim; and I've been to all types of masjids. I've seen all types of clothings--but I still wear the same thing..Also, I do not cover my hair outside of the masjid, and I dont wear Middle Eastern clothing except maybe during Eid. But I dress conservative--no cleavage, no tight jeans, no shorts, and no short skirts.

I just wear whatever is in my closet. Sometimes a long skirt, sometimes jeans with a long shirt on top, but I always like to look my best walking into a house of God.

you can ware anything as long as your covering yourself, and the clothes are not tight fitting or thin that you can see through them.
in Islam you are allowed to ware different clothes but your hair should be covered & only your face, hands (from your rist) and feet can be uncovered.
i try to ware a long lose dress with a scarf (jibaah) when i go to the masjid

hmm well i STILL havent gone to a masjid yet, but i pray in jamaah at school...so thats almost the same to me, lol...um i try to wear skirts and a loose shirt most of the time....i wear jeans too, but i rly dont like praying in them cuz its not that comfy, and also if someone can see me when i pray then thats DEF not good, cuz it shows my shape too much, lol
so if i went to a masjid i would just wear a skirt and loose shirt....and of course i always wear my headscarf <3
=)
