I currently have a 48" mitsubishi HD from 3 years ago but when I connect it to my PC through the DVI port, the screen is cut off on the sides and not fully centered. I am looking to upgrade to a bigger HD projection but I want to make sure I can get 100% of the screen when connected to my PC, just as if I were to connect to a LCD display

Most 16:9 TV sets with 1920 x 1080 displays will give you a full complete picture...all you need to do is connect the DVI up to the TV set or even the PC input....available on MOST TV sets too.....Then set your Video card to the proper resolution.

Now, here's something to GNAW ON.....
Sony just introduced the KDS 55A3000 and it has the capability of accessing the internet with it's BRAVIA™ Internet Video Link
Check this out :

Who needs a computer connection? Not this setup....
All you need is broadband for the optional box.

Your problem is a combination of PC and TV issues, not just TV.

Your TV (like all TVs) overscans the video input, this makes the Windows screen to go beyond the TV screen.
However, all major graphics cards (Nvidia, ATI, and Intel) have ways to compensate for that .

a) Go to the web site of either your PC manufacturer or the graphics card manufacturer and get the latest drivers
b) Check your graphics card for a screen wizard ot the screen underscan menu. It isually gives you the option to customize the size of your screen.

I highly recommend reading this article on how to connect a PC to a TV using DVI . It is for HP products, but it applies to all TVs and PCs.
