I am considering trading my low mileage Jeep Sahara for a cheap new Subaru since I like to take extended/long trips including skiing, mountain biking, etc. I love the Jeep, but I'm almost considering it more toy than transportation. Agree?

Make a list of things that are important to you, and weight those items. Then map those things against the Jeep and the Subaru.

Things that might be on your list might be:
* fuel economy
* long distance ride comfort
* winter road capability
* off-road capability (but I don't think that this important to you).
* cargo space
* etc.

If you don't love your Jeep sell it to someone who will love it, someone who will treat it right, take it for walks in the desert/mountains etc. I'm half kidding here. Just do whatever makes sense to you. I understand that Wranglers are not the most comfortable vehicle for long distance trips (I didn't mind them when I was younger but today it's a different story) If I did a lot of long distance trips, I'd opt for something other than a Wrangler too, just not a Subaru b/c I'm not a granola loving hippie :) KIDDING

no....If you trade your Jeep you may say "Why did I ever get rid of it?" Not being able to remove the top will also be another minus. A Subaru isnt as Masculine as a Wrangler, I would think their combination of all wheel drive and over engineered engines may lead to more expensive repairs. I would think the only plus would be gas milage. God forbid you ever have to actually go off road in one they are pretty low to the ground

This a personal choice. Look at what all you do and decide which will be better then factor in which you will be happier in. Some of this is about which you like and less about what is functional.
