depending on what you are trying to format, if the hard drive , and its window xp that didn't come with a CD, just turn off your computer then when you turn it back on keep hitting F10 that should start the reboot process, it will ask if you want a hard format or a soft format decide the one you want,don't forget to save the programs you want to keep on to a flash drive before you start or you going have to start download every thing again

I'm assuming your installing windows, put your windows disk in your drive, set bios to boot from CD drive, and go into, "install operating system" and use that to format.
