Ultimately the decision is going to be yours, there are a couple of things to consider. The cost is one, the cost of the Wii is almost twice as much as the PS2. The PS2 has a lot more titles available and they're still producing titles for the console.
Keep this in mind, anything coming to a Wii or PS2 will probably come to the other, the only main difference would be like for Mario or Zelda games, not making it to the PS2.
Personally I have a PS2 and wouldn't trade it for a Wii, I also have a PS3, but I'm just not a huge Mario fan or Zelda fan, and that's the only real thing that the Wii gives you over the PS2.

This is for you to decide. All you'll get is a bunch of I love sony don't get wii. or wii forever die sony posts. Ps2 still has alot of good games for it and there are more coming. The wii is newer with internet browser,community and fun games. Up to you but the ps2 is cheaper and easy to find. The wii has more and better features but is impossible to find or expensive.

If you can't afford PS3, than Wii - it's the latest generation console. PS2 is a previous gen console.

Well, I have both, and I'd have to go with the Wii! Good especially if you have more than 1 person. But the choice is really up to you. Both are good consoles, just different.

Being a Gamecube lover, I would have to recommend the Wii.
