Ah, an interesting question. In my opinion, it is because god didn't create man, man created god and use religion simply as an excuse or justification of very bad behavior. Let's not leave the Catholics out of this discussion. In fact, any religion, anywhere, proclaiming any kind of god with any name~~guilty. All guilty of the same self-serving attitude. They will attempt to lay blame and guilt on those who don't believe as the religious leaders would like them to. The Bible, which, incidentally, I don't believe is any more inspired than Gone with the Wind, clearly states we aren't to judge and we are to love. I see very little of this from self-righteous believers in this god they claim to serve.

who said it was ok for them to do that???maybe they just decided to do that themselves. I m sure they didnt pass a law to say they could go out and do this, it ll will have been a few nutters thinking they know whats best for everyone else and take the law into their own hands to get rid of any one who disagreed with them them

I have no evidence of this But I am pretty sure you are WRONG.
Slavery ended in 1863, LET IT GO. Your history does not make you, what you do with your life does.

Matt. 7-21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

I never knew that but I am guessing that it wasn't o.k. they just went against what they believed. It was probably a form of prejudice.
