It's kinda like they're forcing their religion on you. I respect Christianity/Judaism, but is it really necessary to say he loves me if I don't really believe in him?

I am just saying that not all people follow God. With that in mind, you can say "God loves you" but not to their faces. Show a little respect huh?

BTW, how would Christians/Jews like it if a Buddhist said, "Buddha loves you!"?

By the way, I am a Christian believe it or not. I am just struggling with my beliefs. I just don't like it when people say "God loves you" when I can figure it out on my own.

You don't know me, but if I say I love you like a brother cause you are a fellow human. Are you going to be offended by that?

Realize only evil hates good, someone is wishing something good on you, yet you feel hate. Realize that, then realize why.

Alexei,
You may, as many, not believe in God, but He is looking at things from a different perspective. God knows the past, He knows the present, and He knows the future. He and He alone knows where life is going to take you. The husband of an alcoholic wife loves her in spite of the hate that is returned to him and the heart wrenching events that she puts him through. Parents love their children when they are good and when they are bad. God did not make religion. Men made religion to show respect and thanks to God. Religion is imperfect, all of them, because they are from man. God is perfect. God is pure love! God is calling you. Before rejecting Him, you may want to see what He has to say.

I try to take it in context. If someone says it in a nice way, I don't take offense. Someone simply saying that they believe God loves me isn't forcing me to acknowledge OR practice their religion. Just like if I were to tell you I love you, I wouldn't be forcing my love on you, and I wouldn't be forcing you to love me back. I don't love you though, by the way.

But if someone says it in a snarky, sarcastic way ... that's a different story. Sadly, some Christians -- and I do mean SOME -- use sayings like "God loves you" or "I'll pray for you" as a means of implying moral superiority. So, in those situations, I'll simply reply, "Thanks, Satan loves you, too!" or "I'll pray for you when I perform ritual tonight!"

You have to forgive them, for they know not what they do. People will always be ignorant, intrusive and try to impose themselves. It's violent for sure, just look at it like it's a part of human nature that has been like that since we walked out of the mud.

BTW, I have no respect for any religion. It's a stupid game that leads people astray and misses the point completely. None of the religious leaders wanted people to create religions around them. Not one.

Depends on if people know you believe in God or not, or what their intentions were when they said it. If they said it to be nasty or to feel superior, then they're just being jerks. If they said it to try to lift your spirits, then they're trying to be helpful and should be forgiven the oversight or ignorance.

Personally, to me it all depends on the attitude. While I believe in God, I dislike it when people walk around pretending to know PERSONALLY what God wants, thinks or does. If someone is trying to be nice, that's ok, but the hypocritical ignorant people are the ones that'll make me hate hearing those words.

Buddha sits on a shelf or table. Last I seen he is porcelain or ceramic. If someone tells me that it doesn't matter he is not real. Jesus is real. He died and rose again that you might be saved. WHY? Because he loves you.

If you were a Christian you would not hate it when someone tells you God loves you. YOU WOULD REJOICE.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

If you hate this, you are not of Christ.

1 John 4:16
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

are we really that easily offended that we can take a simple phrase and get offended by it?
people say "good luck" to me all the time, and even though I don't believe in luck, I take it in the way it was meant and say thank you.
if someone want to say Buddha loves you, why should that offend me.

Okay, I am not a pusher at all when it comes to religion, but I think that someone saying "God loves you" or "God bless" isn't offensive.

Its certainly better than saying, "God hates your sinful lifestyle and if you don't stop, you're going to burn in hell."

I would have absolutely no problem with someone telling me "Buddha loves you" or "Zeus loves you" or "Sekhmet loves you". Doesn't make any difference to me. I don't feel imposed upon. *shrugs*

I love it when people encourage me & tell me God loves me.
What I hate is when people tell me God hates me or that I am not good enouph, or I am wrong about Gods love, etc...

When people tells you Gods loves you, it is because they are trying to encourages you. So? I will pray that God show you His love for you.
