It will take a huge crock pot for a large ham! Depends on how much it weighs. Instructions will be on the package. A 5 lb one will take aprox 6 hours to 8 hours.
Crockpot Ham
5 lb. canned ham or semi-boneless smoked ham
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. horseradish
1/4 c. canned coke or soda(not diet)
Combine brown sugar, dry mustard and horseradish with enough cola to make a paste. Smear on ham. Put in crockpot with rest of cola. Cook low 6 to 8 hours

Most hams are pre-cooked. The only exception is a fresh ham (basically a roast pork). Any other ham, you don't even need to heat it up if you don't want to.
I like it roasted because it crisps the skin. A crock pot will only heat it up (if it will fit)

yes, but to what degree of doneness do you want it. rare, medium, well done. a generalized cookbook should have a internal temp. scale to tell you how hot the internal temp. should be for rare, medium, etc. use a meat thermometer say every hour till you reach that temp. in the interior of the meat.
