read it! Know what your opponents believe. it gives you power.

I thought it was very rambling and incongruent. There was a lot of bashing of Infidels (Non-Muslims) throughout.

I haven't finished it yet, but as a belief system, I found it lacking.

It is prophetic like the bible and its kind of written in verse, though not the same granularity as the bible. It is a set of religious and social laws too.

It won't help you understand your own beliefs, unless you're Muslim. but it will help you understand other beliefs and cultures.

There are stories in it. There are some prophecies in it and there are rules in it. It is not written like the bible and some people who are familiar with the bible have trouble reading it and understanding it at first because they expect it to be written like the bible but it isn't. It is a complilation of the revelations God gave to Muhammad. It is as if God is speaking to you when you read it. It will help you understand your own beliefs and it may very well change them.

If you are not very familiar with Islam I suggest reading a book about the Quran and the Quran itself...the book Understanding The Koran for dummies is actually quite good and I used to go to the same Mosque as the author. The book helps explain what was going on when certain verses were revlealed etc.

edit: You can listen to part of it in English and Arabic (it alternates between the two every few lines) here: http://www.qurannow.com/ Click skip intro and the Luqman- Just click on download and you'll be listening to Quran.

The Quran is a mixture of all of these things. It is meant to be a guidance for mankind. Try it out, if anything it will help you understand Muslims more. I agree with whoever said to get a book about the Quran too, it helped me out. If you can get a Quran with footnotes it would be helpful as well.

Tuberoot and his claims have been refuted by Puin - the very guy who is mentioned to be studying the fragments in the article.: after the publication of the Atlantic Monthly, Puin wrote a letter in which he revealed:

"The important thing, thank God, is that these Yemeni Qur'anic fragments do not differ from those found in museums and libraries elsewhere, with the exception of details that do not touch the Qur'an itself, but are rather differences in the way words are spelled. This phenomenon is well-known, even in the Qur'an published in Cairo in which is written:

Ibrhim next to Ibrhm

Quran next to Qrn

Simahum next to Simhum

In the oldest Yemeni Qur'anic fragments, for example, the phenomenon of not writing the vowel alif is rather common."

Hi

What is the Qur’an?
The Qur’an is a record of the exact words revealed by God through the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It was memorized by Muhammad (pbuh) and then dictated to his Companions, handwritten down by scribes, who cross-checked it during his lifetime. Not one word of its 114 chapters, Suras, has been changed over the centuries, so that the Qur’an is in every detail the unique and miraculous text which was revealed to Muhammad (pbuh) fourteen centuries ago.

What is the Qur’an about?

The Qur’an, the last revealed Word of God, is the prime source of every Muslim’s faith and practice. It deals with all the subjects which concern us as human beings: wisdom, doc-trine, worship, and law, but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. At the same time it provides guidelines for a just society , proper human conduct and an equitable economic system.

I say get a free copy and study and read it! It can be life changing even if you don't change your beliefs. Sometimes people even end reading it realizing their beliefs have always been different than what they had thought they were.

Tuberoot, the Quran (which means RECITATION) has been presevered by recitation from the beginning. As Muslims, we acknowledge that it took years to finalize (in complete WRITTEN FORM) and when there are Qurans found that do NOT match the recitation they are buried and or burned as in the ones in that article. I read the whole thing and there is an explantion to it all. Even about the Arabic not being comprehensible by some Arabic speakers. It is because Arabs speak different dialects and they do not speak in Classical Quranic Arabic anymore just as Greeks don't speak in Biblical Greek.

Dear,

I'm a Muslim. I see your question. I shall give a simple answer. In my Qur'an Surah 4, Al- Nisa tranlation in English.

Of the Jews there are those
Who displace words
From their (right) places
And say: "We hear And disobey"
And "Hear What is not Heard"; and "Ra'ina"
with a twist of their tongues
And a slander of Faith,
If only they had said:
"We hear and we obey" And ""Do hear"
And "Do look at us"
It would have been better
For them, and more proper;
But God hath cursed them
For their Unbelief and but few
of them will belief.

With the Verse of the Al-Qur'an, I will discuss further,.

We Muslims MUST belief in Jesus one of the right most Prophet of God. We belief Jesus Christ as Extraordinary. Give life to dead and cure the Blind and etc. We belief in Bible that from God to Jesus Christ "only". Other than that, Book King James 66 episod where 7 books does not include. The 73 episod are in other Bibles. We belief that other than The Bible to Jesus are not by God. this been say in the Al-Qur'an

Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse: 79.

Then woe to those who write
The book with their own hands
And then say "This from is from God"
To traffic with it
For a miserable price!_
Woe to them for what their hands
Do write and for the gain
They make there by.

Al-Qur'an are words of God, From God through Gibreil to Prophet Muhammad Sollallahhu alaihi Wasssalam. Prophet Muhammad does not know how to read and right. All verses from God are from his mouth to his followers and being written on animals skin and Leaves. Later compiled by the third Calif of Islam Saidana Uthman bin Arfan, the Al-Qur'an today. The Al-Quran consit of 6,666 Verses of 30 Juzs. It take 23 years to complete. 10 years in Mecca and 13 years in Medina. Al-Qur'an consist of Teaching, History, Law and administration. All Scriptures before Al-Qur'an to Prophet Moses-Scriptures-Bible-Jews-Moses, Scriptures-David and scriptures-Bible-Christianity-Jesus are all in the Al-Qur'an.

Not even close to the bible
