Timothy was in reference to the Old Testament.

If I were to interpret it the way you do, then since the Book of Mormon is scripture, according to Timothy it is of God.

There was no New Testament when Timothy was written!

As to the actual question: No. I believe much of what is written as a history, but I take a grain of salt when I read about the details. Also, since many verses are hyperbole or metaphor, you can believe the intent, but not the passage.

God shows me what things mean in the Bible. He does that for those who trust Him. So talking to a person about what I believe in the Bible who has no respect for the Bible is something to consider on how to answer. Because if I say 'yes', you may think that I believe the Bible in the way you understand it. I probably don't believe the Bible the way you understand it.

I believe in the Bible in the way I have been taught to understand it, which is probably not the way you understand it.

When I was a Christian, everything that wasn't "believed" was said to be a metaphor or that it was "retracted" in the New Testament. Those excuses is given alot.
