Rennaissance Inn is really close to downtown and you can negotiate deals on longterm stays.

Try hotels on South Port Road, that is a busy area and has a lot of hotels. We stayed at Lee's Inn which is a little farther south, it was very nice. It wasn't too bad, about $60 per night.

I have heard that the YMCA used to have inexpensive rooms. I do not know if they still do.
