How Long Do Colds Last?
Cold symptoms usually appear 2 or 3 days after a person has been exposed to a source of infection. People are most contagious for the first 3 or 4 days after the symptoms appear and may be contagious for up to 3 weeks. Although some colds can linger for as long as 2 weeks, most clear up within a week. What Causes Colds?
Most colds are caused by viruses called rhinoviruses that are in invisible droplets in the air you breathe or on things you touch. More than 100 different rhinoviruses (the name comes from "rhin," the Greek word for nose) can infiltrate the protective lining of the nose and throat. This triggers an immune system reaction that can make the throat sore, cause a headache, and make it hard to breathe.

a common cold can take days to take effect and can have a varied range of symptoms a few of them can be runny nose, headache, fever loss of appetite and fatigue. you can have all of the symptoms of just a few. it can last for jus a few days to weeks. if you are otherwise fit and healthy it wouldt take your body long to get rid of it. i would think that you had a sore throat only hough as you havent said what other symptoms you have had. in which case many sore throats dont develop in to anything serious, or you would have had more symptoms by now. hope this helps?

Sore throats are not necessarily a common cold. They are a sore throat. Colds include head congestion, cough, runny nose, possibly fevers, general feeling of being unwell. Sore throats can be a virus which you body can clear more rapidly.
