no he didn't predict jesus but many of their teachings were the same.: the following quote if from the link: Christ and Buddha, two manifestations of divinity, showed us that true salvation lies only on the path of humanity and compassion towards all. Indeed, through their humanity they are both related to us, and through their divinity, to god.

RE:
Did Buddha Predict The Coming Of Jesus?
I read somewhere he did. Is there any truth to that?

No, I don't read them anywhere in the Buddhism scriptures (or maybe I missed). Predictions mainly concerned Buddhism (how it will spread, how it will waver, and how it will end). There wasn't any prediction on other religions recorded.
But does it matter? Understanding and following the noble truth is most important. The rest would not help one to cease sufferings. One should not believe in Buddha (or in fact, any religions) just because his predictions were accurate, for Mara (Satan) could also predict the future.

I'm no religious scholar, but I think that such interpretations are usually made in a desperate grasp for pluralism. The obvious lines of spiritual contact (Judaism to Christianity to Islam, Hindu to Buddhism, etc.) are demonstrable, but given the distance and limited contact it doesn't seem likely that any of the purported Buddhas would have predicted the birth of a supposed Jewish messiah thousands of miles away.

I've been a practicing Buddhist for 11 years, taking weekly lessons from a lama from the Dalai Lama's monastery. Not only have I not heard anything about this alleged claim ... it doesn't "sound" like anything the Buddha would have said. Buddhism doesn't teach about "our sin", nor about being shown the light. As a matter of fact, Buddha told us to be our own saviors.

The predictions about "Jesus" were about Buddha, who was the true Prince of Peace.

Where the hell did you read that? Gautama the Buddha was an atheist.
Oh, Big E and Taylor M... you two were kidding, right?
Michaelg, the Buddha was not a "manifestation of divinity", he never claimed to be divine, he was just a man.

No. Where the heck did that come from?
Big E, Buddha predated Jesus by about 500 years.

Fact: Buddha Shakyamuni never predicted the coming of Christ, nor would the Abrahamic system be acceptable in Buddhist mind, clarity, and compassion. It creates harshness and ideals of an unstable mind.
Some Christians have tried to fabricate ideas, texts, and failed. Not only at basic Pali attempts, in a Buddhist society that wouldn't write in that manner, using wrong titles, structure, and ideas, but in general logic. The ego feed the need to deceive and elevate themselves.
While a Buddhist will have love and compassion for all, and respect their religions (rather then the path which is Buddhism) they will not accept a system who lacks true compassion and wisdom. Nor are they fooled by attempts at manipulation to satisfy ones ego.
The Abraham system of thought harvests ideas conceived by a un-enlightened mind. While love, compassion, forgiveness is to be honored in it. The concept of a burning hell, torture, causing suffering in the name of love, is one of a clouded, unstable mind.
A father has a child. The child has done things the father does not like as conceived b his mind. Perhaps the child married to early. Had intimate relations too early. At meat when they are vegetarians, or ate pork, which they believe is unclean.
While these actions may not be ideal for the image of the father in front of others, or friends. OR what a majority created and believes. Should the punishment of this child be eternal suffering? Torture. Harsh punishment? The conceived sins created in mind should result in death?
There is no true love, undserstanding, wisdom, nor compassion with those ideas.
True compassion comes with experience or wisdom. To be able to relate and offer advice to help end suffering of others. Without any demand fo ones self ego to b e elevated. The love of all people is like the lvove of a mothers only child she adores. To always want to guide, protect, and assure well being. Unconditional, with out threat of harm, or death.
So use wisdom when you speak to others. Do you reflect an enlightened being? one of unconditional love? Or one of potential harm and evil intent?
May all beings have compassion, and the end of suffering.

Heh... No, Buddha wasn't into predictions. And if he did, I guarantee to you that Jesus wouldn't even register on his moral radar.
