Norwegian originates from Danish. We were ruled by Danes for 450 years. Before that we had a totally different language, more like Icelandic. So the spelling is quite the same as Danish, but with a different pronunciation. It used to be exactly the same, but Norwegian spelling has changed many times. It is said that it is more difficult for Norwegians nowadays to understand the Danish pronunciation, although I don't think so myself. Swedish has many words that is totally different, and you just have to know what they mean if you are Norwegian or Danish. Danes and Norwegians have most words in common.

Hej, hur är det med dej själv? (Hello how are YOU yourself?) I´m fine, thank you. (Tack jag mår bra.)
Swedish, Norwegian and Danish languages are all related, for a Swede and a Norwegian it´s easier to understand each other, as it´s to understand Danish and vice versa. It´s easier to read Danish, though, for a Swede or a Norwegian.
I´m from Finland, I´m one of the minority Swedish speaking people who still speak Swedish (5 %), here,of course many Finns speak Swedish. Although Finland being a Scandinavian country Finnish does not belong to the Anglo-Saxon language family, rather more related to languages like Hungarian and Estonian.
Med vänliga hälsningar/Kind regards,
Aurora

It may look like a tiny shrimp and smell like fish, but both dutch and swedish girls would be serving it up in heaven.
