Depending on the age of your new friend, she is probably fine. She could be imagining this or (keep an open mind) maybe she is actually speaking with God. You never know. So if you feel she is going over board or it's becoming an obsessive thing, talk to her about it. As long as it's helping her and not hindering her, it may be what she needs right now (no matter where the source of the conversations is stemming from.) It is important that your friend has a personal relationship with God (as she is a born again Christian), so as long as you don't feel there's something really wrong, let her enjoy this part of her life and support her as best you can.
All the best.

I presume they are praying to God, You mention non stop, The bible does say, Pray without ceasing, But too many young Christains thinks they have to be down on their knees 24/7 Every Young Christian that first gets saved, takes things literally without any revelation as to what that verse means, In my 1 st. year as a Christain I was the same way, Now I have been a Christain for over 37 years, So God has taught me the revelation of these verses, Where it says to pray without ceasing does not mean you have to be on your knees 24/7, But it means to be in a prayerful mood, & keep God on your mind. Before I retired If I was to 24/7 stay on my knees, how would I do my job. But all those years I worked for my employer, I had a silent pray on my heart & at the sametime I could listern to what My boss was telling me.

As long as her God does not start telling her to harm herself, or others, I see no harm in her having this discourse.
Observe her, and ask yourself; "Is she happy?" if the answer is yes, then there is nothing wrong.
Be patient, the novelty will wear off, soon enough, and her conversations with her God will become something for times of private meditation.

Did you call a psychiatrist with the men in white coats to take her away. One of the greatest fears of life is brainwashing of the mind through self meditation.

she is talking to God through prayer and meditation and reading of His word, the Bible. Christianity is about having a personal relationship with God, her Creator, and the reason why people like her is called Christian is because they talk about Christ. see my friend was surprised to know that i talked a lot about the events that happened in the Bible, so he asked how come i knew a lot about these things. so i answered him by saying,
"aren't CHRISTians supposed to know CHRIST and study His words?"
so your friend is ok as long as she doesn't claim to talk to God through some medium or witch.

GIVEN THAT God exists, it's okay that some people are talking to God. My lover's mother claims she can talk to God, although as an atheist I refuse to believe it. I strongly feel she is talking to a spirit from a different dimension who claims that he is God.

God is always listening, so nothing wrong with that. If she tells you God spoke back, then you might want to find out just what He supposedly said; not that He couldn't, but generally when people are recieving messages directly from God and not primarily through His Scriptures, all kinds of contradictory stuff comes up along with false doctrines.

Obviously not. Still, she can probably find a support group, either in a mental asylum or among fellow fundies.

it depends !
there are people who can walk in the "spirit" non-stop.
i myself have spiritual experiences almost daily. but im not so quick to say it is the holy ghost or the spirit of God. i have prayed in public and had the spirit come to me even while my eyes are closed i could see the form of a man. i have had conversations with this real life spirit in many different ways but it is always the same spirit as near as i can tell.

the bible says to "try the spirits" that is to say test them to see which type of spirit it is. but the bible clearly says that spirits will come! a true spirit of God will inspire a person to do Good. to repent of sin and to pray.
some people claim to talk to God and in the end find out that they are indeed delusional.

demons will manifest themselves and humans know how to deceive the naive. it is historically correct to say that Fallen angels have been worshipped instead of God; as God.
so the best way to find out if there is a two way conversation is to find out if there is "special message" that goes against honest Faith. if a message comes that goes against the spirituality of repentance and faith is sure tell-tale sign.

as for mental illness. it has always been my contention that sorcery IS a source of mental illness, under the influence of drugs a person can controlled to see and halucinate many kinds of godlike things. drugs used in these kinds of circumstances have symptoms of memory loss, severe depression and sleep deprivation.

which of these 3 things come close to describing what you see will determine what is going on.
it is my experience that God does not talk to people, it is biblically correct to say that the holy ghost is the one who has the ROLE of teaching truth

Tell him/her to stop because some men in uniform might put your friend in jail or mental hospital.
