Yes you can get a free one. If you go to www.annualcreditreport.com, not www.freecreditreport.com. You can get it for free. On the website you have to navigate through few screens before you get to the actual free report. They will stick that link in small print mixed in the middle of all the other crap.

I noticed on here that you put and "e" after annual. You need to "carefully" type annualcreditreport.com
There are many scam sites that have extremely similar names and are off by one letter in hopes someone will misspell the site address.

You are allowed one free report from each CRA per year. The FTC site will NOT require a credit card when requesting your free reports

I have a link to the FTC site listed in my profile if you want to use that. If not, you might carefully type the name or you might Google "FTC free credit reports" (or similar) to get to the correct site.

If it requires a credit card for your reports, you are not on the right site.
Your credit "scores" are not free.

annualcreditreport.com is the only legitimate site to get free copies- and it is endorsed by the FTC. You get a copy from all three reporting agencies once a year. If you were asked for credit card info then you must have either clicked on the wrong options or ended up on the wrong site.

Here is the FTV approved link for the free credit reports.

They will ask you certain questions about your current loans to prove who you are. THEY DO NOT request credit card numbers.
