Global warming and the depletion of resources such as coal, oil, gas and water are very serious problems for mankind but the earth is unlikely to become uninhabitable in the foreseeable future.
However, if we do nothing about these problems we will suffer very severe social and economic disruption and a further increase in wars. Mass starvations, migrations, wars and plagues could decimate the human population and leave the survivors scratching a living without any of the technological supports we currently enjoy in the developed world.
The solution is to adopt a simpler lifestyle supported by technology rather than go on using technology to waste the world’s resources. (As indicated above the alternative is to have a simple lifestyle forced upon us by exhausting the resources so that technology will not be available to provide comfort).
We need to demonstrate to our politicians that we will welcome sustainable policies (e.g. no more airport runways) by adopting simpler lifestyles individually. Travel by public transport and by walking and pedalling. Work, shop and socialise locally. Stop buying stuff and taking foreign holidays just to keep up with the neighbours. Repair and re-use stuff. Recycle what can not be re-used.
Having reduced demand for stuff and the energy needed to manufacture, distribute and dispose of that stuff we need to use technology to develop further resource saving measures (e.g. insulation) and to develop sustainable energy resources (e.g. wind, wave, tide, hydro and solar). These are exciting challenges and opportunities for employment.
The good news is that a simple lifestyle based around local services is healthier (walking and cycling improve fitness and enable you to enjoy other activities more) and more fun than trying to keep up with the neighbours. By adopting such a lifestyle you will demonstrate this to others.
Best wishes

I'm guessing.... 2-3 centuries more. And that's being pessimistic.
First, the Sun has enough fuel to light itself for at least billions of years more.
Second, Global Warming can't kill us. It can damage our countries and it can lessen land, but it can't kill us.
Third, granting that I am too optimistic when it comes to Global Warming, let's just say that Humanity cannot just go down without a fight. Global Warming is a man-made problem. And as such, it is man who can find a solution to it.
Fourth, with the introduction of nanomachines, we won't have to worry about food or water ever again.
Fifth, we will eventually find more advanced forms of energy (seriously, oil, coal and other fossil fuels are primitive sources of energy).
The only thing that can really kill this planet are nuclear bombs, a man-made virus that disseminates rapidly every .5 seismic seconds or a meteor hitting the earth (no, not aliens. Geez, why do people always think that aliens will destroy us?).

Global will probably not make the world unsuitable for human life but it will make it very uncorfortable for many. If many of the predicted things occur (war, famine, floods, droughts, disease, etc, ) mankind won't be wiped out just millions and millions will die. It could lead to nuclear exchanges which could possibly wipe out much of mankind.
Our big concern as far as making the earth uninhabitable is our pollution of our drinking water. Fresh water and ocean water is being polluted with organic and petro chemical, pesiticide and herbicides, heavy metals and many other complex poisons that are very hard to remove and cause cancer, DNA damage and brain and hormonal problems. If we pollute water so as to make it extremely difficult to clean and drink, we have big problems.
Nuclear proliferation, leading to nuclear war, is also a big global problem.
Don't get me wrong, we must fight global warming because it could kill millions, even billions but it making the earth totally uninhabitable is unlikely.

Trust in collective human wisdom. There may not be appropriate awareness right now but as and when things came to a crunch, humanity would rise and work over time to protect themselves and the mother earth. It takes time and clear visibility of common threat for the mankind to join hands and convert their personal survival instincts in to a collective survival agenda. Don't worry,It will work out to be fine.Humans and mother have been ,are and shall ever remain inseparable.

don't worry on things you have no control over. global warming, global freezing, asteroids, floods, storms,. be more concerned of people. Al Gore, Hillery Clinton, and all those that wish to be known by their babbling half truths. form an opinion of your own through education, these people know you wont.

If we don't make drastic, draconian changes the planet will no longer be able to sustain us probably within the next 75 to 100 years maybe a bit longer.

Suitable? It hasn't been suitable for years with all these murders, abductions, gang crime and everything. Now with all the C02 emissions we might as well face that Earth is irreversible.
