Dry or congested nasal passages allow small vessels to break and bleed. They usually stop on their own. Running a humidifier in your bedroom at night, applying bacitracin or neosporin up your nose several times a day (seals the little bleeders), making sure your blood pressure is in good control (high blood pressure makes bleeders bleed more). Also - overuse of nasal sprays can cause rebound congestion, thus making your little vessels more prone to break and bleed in your nose. This is not serious.

I too have allergies mainly controlled by Zyrtec. Lately I have had two sinus infections after upper resp infections and they started the same way. Uncontrollable runny nose, than blood with specs, and then more blood then I would choose to describe. It is an Upper respiratory infection that involves your sinuses. You can't breathe. I couldn't stop crusty blood filled nostrils. The treatment is a saline nasal mist as often as you can and steam or a humidifier. If that fails after a week to ten days call your doc and get antibiotics. Yes, I know they don't work on viral but they worked on mine. You don't want to use any drying agent like Afrin, in fact it could be aggravating your problem. For a sinus infection it's steam, saline, don't make it worse (IE blowing your nose) and patience. To all of us a little bit of blood looks terribly scary. I recently had an jerk of a friend break my lower occipital lobe (eye) which seems directly above your sinus. It was scary, ugly and bloody, but I was fine after almost four months. The sinuses are kind of a labyrinth, but if you listen to a good doctor you will be fine

this could take place if the nostril is merely too dry. At night attempt putting Vaseline, or any non-scented cream, into each and every nostril. merely positioned slightly on your little finger, and wipe it around interior the nostril as severe as you may circulate. Sounds gross i understand, yet works wonders in scuffling with the nostril from drying out jointly as you sleep. jointly as the saline answer won't provide up your nostril getting filled up, it does help by preserving it moist additionally, in case you have a vaporiser/humidifier, attempt utilising that at night with heat water.
