Pounds but quite a few of the larger shops like Selfridges take Euros and it is not unknown at ports either.

Pounds you can't pay with Euros anymore than you could pay with Euros in the USA.

in northern ireland because we border with Ireland who use the euro alot of shops accept either , The pound is used more as that is what the banks dispense but if you had been on holiday and euro left you could spend in a shop to to get rid it .

we pay with the pound. Some places have tills set up to take euros, especially in port and tourist areas, but you'd get change in sterling,

Only certain shops accept Euros, you would have to check beforehand which shops did, and which ones didn't. If you were to go to a bank, you would only get pounds sterling.
