With all the hatred on this site with the Catholic Church I bet you would be happy if the Church did not excist , no matter what Catholics say you will never believe us , to you we are liars and don't even know about our own Religion

This is one Catholic that is sick and tired of all the hatred against the Church on this site

What I want to know is people say we have our own God , so who is he, and are we liars about our own faith?

It's obvious from reading the answers here that non-Catholics are filled with a lot of misconceptions about our faith. We do not hate gays or people of other religions. We do not believe that only Catholics will go to Heaven. If anyone does, it is their own personal belief, not the belief of the Catholic Church. Catholics are not alone in their belief that abortions are sinful; you won't find any other Christian church who doesn't feel the same way. All Christians are taught to hate the sin but love the sinner. On the whole, Catholics are a pretty tolerant bunch.

Unfortunately, there are many Catholics who truly are not aware of the Church's stance on many beliefs and others who listen to them think that their opinions represent the opinions of the Church. They should get a catechism and read it.

Well, as seen by some answers the misconceptions continue to run rampant.

What galls me is the false statements made as absolute fact. Such as Ryley who says Catholics hate homosexuals and women who have abortions...where in the world does a statement like that come from? It is so not true!!!

And sad to read statements about former Catholics who found that the Church does not follow the Bible...again..not true. Catholicism is not a Bible-only religion. Never was and never will be. This does not mean we do not follow the scripture. We just aren't like the fundamentalists saying everything has to be written in the Bible or it's not of God. Who ever came up with that? The Bible doesn't even back up that claim...so that kind of undermines their entire approach. Catholics who do not know their faith are easy prey for Bible-thumpers. The best defense is knowledge of what we believe and why.

But there is an upside to all of this. Jesus told us that "they" will hate you because of me. So we know we are on the right path. He also said the gates of hell would not prevail against his church...that also has been true and will remain so. The very fact that Satan attacks the Church as he does...even through other Christians shows which Church he is truly afraid of...the one true Church.

Additionally, answering these questions, has helped me bone up on my Catholicism...I've learned a lot and it has served to strengthen my faith, and my knowledge that I belong to the Church the Christ himself started.

How many good people did Lot have to find in Sodom for God to spare the city.

I don't hate you, I do not know you.

I certainly do not hate The Church of Rome.

I love catholics, most of them.

Their doctrine is mostly correct.

I have friends that are priests.

I had a beloved aunt who was a nun, and a true servant of God -- I really miss her. This world misses her.

I really liked John Paul. what an amazing man of God. I miss him.

The Church did some bad stuff. The Movie Luther illistrates examles. The Crusades.

The Church has admitted it and apologized. I accept the apology and grant forgiveness.

The reason that I am not still catholic, is because God wants a personal relationship with me. I call Him Father. I call priests Reverend. I don't need a priest to intercede on my behalf, because the curtain is torn and God is with us.

I really like to attend a mass. I understand what is going on. It is a beautiful way to worship. It is not the only way. King David danced naked before God -- what passion. He was not wrong in doing this. I do not do that, and I am certain that all christians are glad that I do not.

One of the most dangerous places a human could be is between someone worshiping and God.

God shares His Glory with no man.

If you want to be Catholic then be a good Catholic, but I'll warn you, the bar is really high -- I have know many good Catholics, who no doubt are with God.

Everything is going to be alright, because Jesus is coming back soon.

The only think I can say I have against the Catholic Church is its honorific and bloody history.

It is something that can never be forgotten or atoned for, but the past being what it is I cannot blame modern day Catholics for what they had no control over.

That being said individuals like Pope John Paul have done a lot in my mind to rectify the problems of the Church and heal old wounds. Hopefully the present Pope will continue on this path.

Tiger Lil, as a Catholic I can't argue with anything you have to say.

Please remember, they lied about Jesus, too. And they hated Him, too.

So why would they treat His Church any differently?

I consider it an honor to be lied about and mistreated in the same way that the Master was.

See, it's not personal. It's not really _us_ they hate and lie about.

It's Him.

(Scary, when you think about it, isn't it?)

I am not Catholic, but I do have a great respect for them. They have through out the years, helped more people that are in need than any other faith, they are most dedicated to serving. Though I do disagree with praying to the saints and Mother Mary or bowing down to any graven image, nor do I agree that the Pope is the way to GOD.

because they know better then you,.. and they are going to tell you.
bigots.

They are afraid of man made religion that hold them up to a higher standard. Yet man made morality says everyone should be just like them. In fact,.. you can be too moral. They accept faults as a part of tolerance. In this they have developed the philosophy, love others so they have to love you. It's like kids who only love their parents on Christmas. They wine and wine until they find a reason that they consider love ( a metaphor to look at yourself with).

Why are people who have become calloused to marital love writing psychology in accepting promiscuity? Because they want to gain justification for being the screw ups they are. It's not their fault they can't work out problems. It's not their fault they don't know how to cultivate love. It's not their fault they are attracted to a fantasy... So all love must be a fantasy deep down. And they are the more mature ones because they saw through the lie of love. (just a metaphor for all atheists version of morality).

I quit going to church as a young child because of the prejudice felt from the congregation towards me and my siblings. Therefore, I am somewhat ignorant about the full beliefs of different religions.

The one thing in my heart I feel is real and certain is God. It’s really sad to see **people** willing to use and abuse his name, love and forgiveness with a religious tone tagged to it to back their own radical intent usually having greed as a motive.

Wrong information. I am a Hindu. I did my high schooling in a RC seminary. All my sisters studied in a RC convent school. We all had the most cordial relationships with the rector, various clergy, the mother superior and the nuns. They even used to visit our home for Hindu festivals and share the feast; as we did (and still do) share theirs.

Even such of us who did not believe had no problem with their believing what they wanted to.

I don't hate Catholics

I think that history has shown that some (not all) men who have been in the roll of church leadership have really been vile, evil men and these men corrupted the church. This though as a matter of fact is in all religions, thus I don't really believe in the organization of todays religions.

It all seems like Broadway productions rather than worship. Don't get me wrong, I believe, and I Believe Peter was the Rock, but sadly Satan controlled some of the men who came after him.
