how do you make a salt-based mouthwash?

I need something that will look more scientific than just mixing salt with water. can anyone "scientific" help?

Be specific about the kind of water and salt (sea salt?) and the amounts (1/4 tsp. sea salt w/ 8 oz. distilled water?).
