I'm a vegetarian and an atheist, so I wouldn't consider myself a Muslim.
The object of my becoming a veggie was to avoid creating a market for meat products. If there is no demand, there is no need for supply. I personally don't want to add to the demand for meat. My largest objection to eating meat is the treatment of animals during farming, shipping and slaughter. I feel the whole process is inhumane.
If something unavoidable happened, say I was lost in the wilderness, I would eat plants only - perhaps fish if they were available, but I can't imagine that I would be able to kill an animal.
If I went to a person's house and they served me meat, having not known of my vegetarianism, I would eat only vegetables if they were available, but if not, I would probably eat the meat to save the person's feelings, if it had been prepared with the best of intentions - after all - the damage has already been done when the meat was purchased. I will not eat meat from someone though if my eating will cause that person to need to go and buy more for themselves as a result of me eating it.
Hope that answers your question.

Nothing but pork on the table, I would skip the meal. I find the smell of pork disgusting and would sooner eat dirt clods like the Cambodians under the Khmer Rouge.

Muslims do it for religious beliefs, vegetarians do it for personal beliefs.
If there is pork on the table, a vegetarian simply wouldn't eat it.

I can only answer part of your question as a veggie
To me eating any meat is out of the question
To many veggies the smell of meat is much like tobacco smoke is to a Non Smoker
Many find it both revolting and unnecessary as well as damaging to ones health but at the end of the day it is for the individual to decide
May this help You

Yes you can be vegan/vegetarian if you are Muslim. In fact it doesn't matter what religion you are, you can still choose be vegetarian. I find my spirituality and my diet are complementary.

This is more of a statement than answer. The food I feed my dogs and cats has MEAT in it. I respect vegetarians but I hope that me not being one makes me and all my six pets evil.

I hate pork, its the last meat I'll ever eat.
The only way I'd eat it is if that was all there was and I hadn't eaten for days.
Vegitarian here, btw.

Hi:
I think anyone who says no outright is perhaps being a tad too quick to presume as we really don't know what we would do in times of desperation. So if the choice was no other than eat the 'forbidden' or die of starvation: I think all would choose to survive ...surely....for their loved ones sake...
Peace my friend..
What happened to your name :)
