When filling out an application you're never supposed to leave any space blank. If there is no answer you may right in N/A as in "Not Applicable".

I know of one employer, who the first thing they did was scan the stack of apps, for those with blanks and toss them! He said if they couldn't follow basic instructions he had no use for them.

As an employer, I would not even consider an interview for someone who can't follow basic rules like filling out an application completely.

The only acceptable reason to leave that blank is if you are attaching a resume at the time you turn it in.

if it is your first job... then nothing.. they'd just question u about it during an interview.. however i put down that it would be my first job. if u had jobs before some places have back ground checks.. they will know where u worked.. and if u lie u wont get the job. however if u leave it blank they'll just question u, or not even consider u for an interview.

Didn't you post this same question regarding the reference section yesterday? Postings like this trivialize a modest effort to inexpensively help others and it is only possible because Yahoo is greatly committed to this forum.

Please take a few minutes to reflect on your objective and post a specific question for people willing to donate their time in order to help you. Good Luck.

If you are a young person, they may think you have never had a job. If you are older- then it looks you have something to hide.
