It is the Temporo-Mandibular Joint, the joint where the mandible (the lower jaw) joins the temporal bone of the skull, immediately in front of the ear on each side of your head.

Temperomandibular joint Syndrome. (The Jaw Joint) It can be caused from MANY different things, but primarily is the result of clenching the teeth or grinding the teeth in your sleep. Can come after an injury to the upper body, neck or head, can come from stress, can come from a dentist's mistake or an orthodondist's mistake, or just from having a misalignment of the teeth......it is a very serious, permanent condition and very painful.....major TMJ happens when the disks in the jaw joints finally get so worn that they "slip" out of the joint, just like slipped disks in the spinal cord. TMJ s**cks! I know....I have suffered with it over 25 years now....it takes an EXCELLENT
SPECIALIST to treat it properly.....if you are diagnosed with it, it is difficult to find a doctor.....if you need one.....don't waste your time with regular dentists....here's my specialist.....go see him if you think you have this condition, even if you have to fly across the country to get to him!
