I'm going through the same thing. A lot of things that are in the bible just don't add up. The bible says that earth began only thousands of years ago, when modern science has proven it is over 4 billion years old. And if that isn't true about the bible, then how can any of it be found credible. I would just believe in helping people and doing good deeds. I don't go to church anymore and don't feel i need to. I feel that God would want me to help others, instead of worshiping him all the time. I know if i was god, i wouldn't want people wasting their time devoting their lives to me. They should live it how they want to, while respecting other people of course.

I don't know what religion you follow right now, but Paul in the New Testament describes much the same problem. "For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing." Rom 7:19 It's not an uncommon problem.
I don't know that that's really going to help you, though. If you are truly doubting your beliefs, then you need to go back over them. Why did you adopt those beliefs in the first place? You must've had a reason. Was it a good reason? Has anything changed? Doubt is not sin - far from it. It is, however, a good opportunity for you to deepen your faith, or to decide that you were wrong in the first place. Don't be afraid of it. Look back at what you believe, and decide if you still believe it.

You say you are doubting your religion, what exactly do you mean by that, when at the same time you say you have a lot of faith in your God?And then you say you like to drink on weekends and you know this is immoral behaviour you don't want to quit, so what are you saying is there real doubt about something in your religion, doubt about some of your beliefs. or are you trying to find something to doubt so that you don't feel the need to change your behaviour?Well I think the first thing you need to do is be honest with yourself and figure out your motives, then work out what you really hold dear your faith in God and pleasing him or your drinking, there is nothing wrong with having a drink now and then, it only becomes wrong if you get drunk, drinking in moderation is ok Jesus had a drink at social gatherings(a weding)He even turned water into wine on that occasion, of course that does not mean it's ok to make it a practice to get drunk.

I'm going to quote you here "I have a lot of faith in my God and what i believe" and "I am also starting to doubt my beliefs overall"
So, which is it exactly
1. "a lot of faith"
or
2. "starting to doubt my beliefs"
It can't be both. You sound confused. What I recommend is that you get a good modern English translation of your Holy book (you didn't say what religion you are) and read it from cover to cover. After you do that, compare what you read to what you have been taught to believe about your religion and see if it matches. It's at that point where you will be fully prepared to make an informed decision about whether this religion is right for you.
If you find that you don't care enough about your religion to educate yourself in this way, then why even bother trying to follow it's commandments? From what I know of most organized religions, there is no "halfway" when it comes to faith.

You can still embrace a Higher Power and not follow a particular set of religious doctrines. You can be SPIRITUAL without being RELIGIOUS. If you think you need a religion in your life, look into other religions to see if there is another one out there that is closer to the way you believe. There is no ONE universal religion that is correct for everyone, no matter what anyone tells you. Just because your neighbor wears a size 0 jeans doesn't mean they fit you ;)

What can we suggest? You can not control yourself and admit that you drink alcohol and your behaviour is immoral.
What makes you think you have faith in your God?. Let me know who is your God. If you believe in real God, you wouldn't be drinking and doing immoral things. The faith on real God is the essence. Are you prepared to make a major change in your life.
Muslims are the only people who believe on real one and only God. They do not drink, they donot eat filthy animals meat -I mean pig, majority of them get married and never cheat their spouses and live clean life. It is because relgion Islam make more sense than any other religion. Its teachaings are extremely effective. It teaches a complete way of life and just the dogma like Trinity. Muslims are most devoted followers of the real religion of God.
I don't think you will read it but I will list few web sites for you any way in case you change your mind some point in your life.

Most Christians enjoy a social drink without feeling guilty. I know my parents did. They didn't get drunk, though, after they were married (this was just after WW2 when my dad first entered university).
You can enjoy yourself and not feel guilty. Especially since I sense you are young and at a time of life where you're full of energy and a party atmosphere is a good place to release it. I'm not saying be immoral, but please don't punish yourself for enjoying life a bit.
And examining your beliefs is healthy.
Doubt has driven society to better things. What if Europeans had not started doubting Divine Right of Kings/Queens? They'd not have parliamentary republics.

Hi Kelli,
You doubt now.... but later, you will become stronger.... and time will teach you much.... You will learn to put religion behind you and will focus on faith..... Trying to follow a perfect way as was taught you, is difficult, because idle thoughts will have you at odds with who you are in relation to God because of the standard rules of society where religion is concerned.......
Do not focus on religion.... we are not perfect..... Be wise in the things you must do......... Be comforted that everyday passes and does not last forever.... but as the days are short, focus on being whole inside and join yourself to God in everyway.... ((Luke 17:21)) By following a common rule, you will learn to be more whole to God..... Little steps at a time... Like a plant as it strives toward the sun, does not grow all at once...... and yet, its life is short..... this is you!

Ginger,

Forget about beliefs and focus on spiritual practices. Crazy as it sounds, beliefs aren't the issue. You haven't even scratched the surface of the arguments for and against your particular system of beliefs. As long as you are doing it legally, drink responsibly on the weekends. Try not to get wasted or make a fool out of yourself, but don't be afraid to get a little tipsy. But try to adopt some spiritual practices like a rule of prayer or meditation sessions.

first we are all sinners.... but that shouldnt make ya give up altogether...pray..tell your heavenly father whats bugging ya...u cant get over sin all by yourself...and Jesus said that nothing that goes into the mouth is sinul in itself...whats sinful is that u become addicted..unable to stop and getting drunk (in which case u are not completely yourself and lose part of your full will)...having doubts? it happens to everyone of us...even athiests can have doubts about what they believe.....dont give in to your doubts...pray, read, and hang on to God cause he's hanging on to u....and when u do have the feelings of doubts, those could just be feelings frm Satan ...if they are not by your full will...also try talking to your preist or pastor about your concerns....see what they tell ya may God bless u abundantly
