I have tried all the lotions, oil, cream, even crisco lard to apply to my dry, cracked, rough feet to soften them up. Does anyone know what else I can do, they feel like sandpaper and I am ashamed for anyone to see them let alone feel them..

You may need exfoliation as well. Get a pumice stone and a sugar scrub. Soak your feet in hot water and oils, then exfoliate with the scrub and stone. Then dry and apply a heavy salve. I LOVE this one:

Apply it heavily and put on socks. Do this every day or as often as you can and see if that helps.

They marry, have children, live their lives, its not a fortuitous arrangement of features that makes someone pretty or beautiful, its a good soul, a caring spirit that comes through even with the plainest person. Ugly can come just a easily in a pretty package. Take the makeup off many of our 'beautiful' women, subtract the surgery, and the cosmetic dentistry, botox, and you've got ordinary people. Just taller and skinnier. Next time you think beautiful people are happy, think about all those famous women whose husbands have cheated on them or left them for other women, there was no magic in being pretty for them.

At bedtime coat both your feet with Vaseline petroleum jelly and place plastic bags over them and secure with a little tape like booties. Leave these on all night when you wake up in the morning you will not believe how soft your feet will be. This works on hands too. When you do your hands you just slip on a pair of disposable plastic gloves.

Heel fissures are almost always caused by people wearing open-back sandals/slippers too often.
Start wearing normal shoes that support your heel from all sides, and apply a rich emollient at night.

Your problem isn't dry skin, your problem is caused by a buildup of dead skin tissue (xerosis). If it gets to the point where they crack and bleed, you need to see a podiatrist.

I use pumice or a foot file to buff off the really thick skin (drugstore has those), and soak my feet. Then I put Bag Balm on them (at night -- it's kind of greasy but you don't need a thick layer) and cover my feet with cotton socks.

Much better!

Get over the shame. Pay a little extra and get a good pedicure.
