I am 21, senior in college, and I am not going to drink anymore. All of my close group of friends drink. I can go to bars and not drink, but what else can I do instead of that? (Not anything that necessarily includes my friends, but what can I do)

Get a partner and snuggle up in front of the TV and then....

I love movies, and rent them obsessively. I have to see the latest films! This can be done with/without the said friends.

I listen to music, you could get a part time job and make more friends (when I was a senior I did that). I graduated, and went back to school a year later, so I'm very busy with studying... you're probably so over that ;-)!

You could also learn to cook well too. I used to be miserable in the kitchen, living off junk food like McDonalds, but a bit of practice and I'm actually getting somewhere. Some of my cooking has been described as restaurant quality. It could also see the start of a new you - no boozing you could start living healthy without alcohol and take up a new sport or benefit from the other ones.

What else... Reading is great, although I need to get my standards higher than the National Enquirer :D But reading for pleasure not for college.

All this is making me consider quitting drinking too. I'm down to once a week (I'm 22) and I think I'm sick of being hungover (I was hungover yesterday). I really think I overdid it in the last few years and put myself off it.

My daughter spent the late evening bowling with friends,
There's a trip to the Video/DVD store and an evening infront of the TV -- alone or with friends
Interaction with others can come through crossword puzzles or with games.
A visit to the park playground after dark can conceal your ages and be loads of laughs.
Dessert or a bucket of fries at the local Denny's or IHOP
Barnes and Noble is open 'till 11 (here anyway) and college and adults tend to gather there
There are ball games or sports on TV
Old black and white movies carry more interaction and deeper stories than do today's versions.
Some people read
Others crochet
Some go for music, specialty cooking, or spend an hour on the computer.
There's always laundry

i quit drinking over a year ago. In the beginning I was bored as hell. I started getting up at 6am to have breakfast and read the newspaper, do the crossword and hopefully be tired at 10pm. (boring as hell) Now a year later, I go to coffee shops and play chess, I go to book stores. I love secondhand shops.movies. Now there are not enough hours in the day for the stuff I do. Your mind will find a way to keep you busy. Just enjoy being bored for a while. You'll meet new people in different circles after a while and the more circles you have the more choices of stuff to do there will be. good luck

Museums, bike ride, rollerblade, outdoor activities like that, weather-permitting, or in the winter you can ski, go to the library, a craft shop, shopping, bowling, laser tag, art galleries, explore downtown, ride the train, go to a concert, a booksigning, draw, learn a new skill such as an instrument, a computer program like photoshop, or machinima, play a video game, bake, take dancing lessons, eat out in restaurants you normally don't notice, tour a factory, like Eli's Cheesecake, go to the zoo, botanical garden, call a friend you haven't spoken to in a while, start writing a novel.

STUDY! Just joking you're probably doing enough of that - find a group on campus that you'd like to join - a club - like a language club etc., you know what I'm speaking of, and I'm certain you'll find a new group of friends in no time at all....

I'm in the same situation. I basically just answer questions on here all day. Its a sad, pathetic life. But actually a good suggestion I have is to hit the gym.

Try to get a job that coincides with the hours that you usually go pubbing so that you don't feel so tempted.
Maybe even offer after hours tutoring
