over twenty three years. I used to date this guy and his brother just passed away this past week. and i was wanting to send him a sympothy card cause his brother was a really great person. do you thinks it's appropriate or not. we are both married and i don't want to step over any boundries. please help

Send a sympathy card if it feels right for you. It is not overstepping and he will probably feel honoured that you care.

It's appropriate. You're not overstepping any boundries just by sending a sympathy card.

I see nothing wrong with it, it would be a nice geture of kindness. When my brother passed away 3yrs ago I wish more people had acknowledged him.
