I came across this 'issue' this morning when I wanted to see a satellite image of the ancient city of Ashkalon. Since then, I have been doing some googling (sorry Yahoo, it's in the dictionary now!)
Here is a satellite image of an Israeli air base:

According to this link ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2007/oct/25/google.israel ) from the Guardian:

Surely someone on a bicycle with a GPS in his/her pocket is going to gather far more valuable targets than Google Earth?
