my boyfriend is on a diet. he isn't supposed to drink anything but water. but, he told me that it's okay to drink sugar...such as coca cola. i told him no because sugar turns into fat. i then asked him if he'd like some cheese instead and he said no because it's too fatning. i then said...sugar from the coca cola turns into fat alot faster then dairy products such as cheese would. it does depend on the amount. but a glass of coca cola would turn into fat alot faster then 3 pieces of cheese would correct?
is he right or am i?

Carbohydrates are like the kindling in a fire, they burn quickly and do not provide sustained energy. Sugar, starches like bread, etc. are carbohydrates.

Fats are like the logs in a fire, they burn slowly and are a source of sustained energy.

The coco cola your boyfriend is drinking is all carbohydrate. The problem with coco cola is that it is total garbage and is wreaking havoc with his endocrine system and digestive system.

Coco cola contains many harmful things for the body. First it creates dehydration and causes the body to lose fluids. You have to drink 1-1/2 times the ounces of the coco cola in water to compensate for the dehydration it causes.

It contains phosphoric acid. This causes the calcium in the body to be depleted. Since the blood has to maintain a very tight tolerance of pH in the blood of between 7.35 and 7.4, the body has to draw calcium from first the muscles and then the bone to maintain this level or you die. So when you drink the garbage coco cola, you cause calcium to be depleted from the muscles & bones.

The sugar in the coco cola is refined sugar. It causes insulin spikes and overworks the pancreas. When the pancreas gets too overworked, it will start shutting down and the body's digestive system will suffer greatly because it won't be getting the pancreatic enzymes it needs to aid digestion. There is one teaspoon of sugar per ounce. So if you drink a big gulp of 64 ounces of coco cola, you are putting 64 teaspoons of sugar into your body.

The caffeine from the coco cola causes your Adrenal Glands to secrete Adrenal Hormones. Your body thinks it's in a "fight or flight" mode when this happens. You exhaust the Adrenal Glands and it takes 26 to 29 hours for them to recharge, provided you get enough sleep and don't drink more caffeine in the mean time. This is why you don't have the energy you would like to have each day. When the Adrenals go into this fight or flight response, the liver is signaled by the Adrenals that it needs to prioritize away from normal activity of cleaning bile, generating hormones to the sex organs, and other necessary functions the liver is responsible for. The liver causes the large production of cortisol when this happens.

Not to mention all the above, coco cola has benzoate of soda in it as a preservative. If you take Ascorbic Acid (synthetic vitamin C) the combination of these two things creates BENZENE that is very toxic and the body has to get rid of this. And the liver is the organ that is supposed to do this. If the liver is busy with the fight or flight response, it sends the job to the kidneys. Now you have polluted the kidneys with Benzene and this very toxic substance can cause kidney problems.

The constant bombardment on the body by this garbage takes it's toll. Diabetes, kidney problems, adrenal exhaustion, and cancer from the toxins generated. Additionally, the gall bladder gets affected because the liver is not cleaning the bile as it should and the production of new bile is tainted, leaving a viscous bile to be sent to the gall bladder. This viscous bile then causes gall bladder problems and the fat digestion becomes greatly affected. Now cholesterol problems happen. No wonder so many people are having their gall bladders out these days.

Cheese on the other hand, if purchased from a local store and it's from say, the Kraft company, is garbage as well. The good thing is that it is fat and that will give you more sustained energy if and when your body is able to digest it. Most of Kraft cheeses, for example are "one day" cheeses. Made in one day and packaged. This leaves huge amounts of lactose in the cheese that is very difficult to digest. If you buy cheese that has been aged for over 90 days, only about 10% or less of the cheese is lactose and easily digested.

If the cheese and dairy products are pasteurized and homogenized, they will have altered calcium that can't be absorbed unless vitamin D is added to force the body to absorb the garbage calcium. The homogenization of the milk causes the cells to be crushed and this creates huge amounts of homocystines that cause many allergies. Many people who are lactose intolerant can digest RAW MILK just fine, but have huge allergies to pasteurized milks.

In terms of "turning into fat" comment, fat is necessary for the body to function. Your heart runs on fat and derives it's energy from fat to function properly. The Low Fat, High Carb diets are very destructive to the body and these so called "experts" that promote this are either "hired guns" of the food industry or just plain IGNORANT of how the body works.

good luck to you --- Don't drink sodas, they will rob you of your health.

I'm not an expert, but I think it does. I use to be on a low carb, low sugar diet that consisted of high protein like dairy, cheese, meat, poultry, etc.

If your boyfriend is on a diet and he isn't supposed to drink anything but water. Then he should be drinking water instead of sugary drinks. Sugary drinks contain a lot of calories. Here is how many calories there are in each drink:

I wouldn't even recommend drinking diet drinks. Because the sweet taste stimulates one's appetite and makes it difficult to obstain from eating too much of some other food.

Perhaps it's more healthy to eat some cheese than to drink sweet drinks. But in the end it's the number of calories consumed that matters the most to someone who is on a diet. And cheese has plenty of calories too.

any time drinks are consumed that contain calories the body treats them as food. digestive enzymes are released, blood sugar and insulin increase, etc. drinking soda is the same as eating sugary candy.

excess calories get converted to lipids and stored in fat cells but measurable fat storage takes place over an extended period of time as in weeks, not on a meal to meal basis. it takes less energy for the body to convert dietary fats into lipids, then excess blood sugar then amino acids.

I would tend to think that "sugars" would be used up by the body quickly as an "energy boost", and would burn off faster than cheese/dairy products.
