It depends on which 4x4 system your jeep has. There are different systems depending on the options ordered. 1 system is full time 4x4 with no 2wd mode available that has the following positions 4WD all time, Neutral, 4WD Lo. 1 system is part-time 4x4 that has 2WD, 4WD Hi, Neutral, 4WD Lo. 1 system is a combination of both systems that has 2WD, 4WD Hi Part time, 4WD Hi Full Time, Neutral, 4WD Lo.

Command-Trac is a part time system
Selec-Trac is a part time/full time system
Quadra-Trac Full time system
Quadra-Drive Full time system, also has progressivly locking differentials, same idea as the quadra-trac system though.
