I had it done to me when I was little- it was awful-
I used hot sauce with mine- it was effective.

And for all the child abuse whiners- I know what abuse is- I was abused- my parents hit me in places that should never be hit and sometimes for no good reason and just because they were mad-every little infraction was likely to earn you a slap, punch or something thrown at you.

I thought I would never spank my child- but soemtimes- it is necessary.
I never spank for childhood irresponsibility- kids are going to be kids and they are going to forget things or neglect things because they are play minded.
In the case of outright defiance and rebellion- yes- I will spank- I will never do it because I am angry - I won't even do it if I am frustrated and angry- I do it because I guarantee you- if they go into this world behaving in that unteachable, defiant , disrespectful manner- the people that are going to deal with them are not going to deal with them in manners that are tempered with love and mercy, they ill not care if the consequences cost them their livelihood or in some cases even their life. My kids know I love them and no matter how I discpline them, I will never hurt them- the pain of a spanking or hot sauce goes away in 2 minutes and hopefully, though short lived, it will be enough to make them think about their actions and attitudes next time. The pain of the consequences of those behaviors when they are outside of the covering of my authority will be a lot longerthan 2 minutes and can be lifelong- I would rather they learn the lesson when they are young than to have to deal with those consequences as an adult- Hopefully, one good spanking, tempered with love and administered with mercy will save them a lot harsher crueler consequence in the future

confident. That replaced right into a easy element whilst i replaced into infant. childrens who had a potty mouth have been given it washed out with cleansing soap. A bar of cleansing soap in the process your tongue as quickly as with a number of it hitting your tooth helpful cleans up the language.

Yep. I washed my son's mouth out with soap 12 years ago. My mother-in-law said it was the best thing to do, and I dutifully did what I was told.

I will remember that moment with regret for the rest of my life. It's cruel and harsh. There are other ways to encourage good language and discourage the bad.

Lol! My Mom wouldn't "wash" our mouths out, she would just put a tiny bit of Dishsoap on the tip of our tongues! And That was nasty! I'm sure by today' standards that would be considered child abuse.

Wish I would have had the guts to when my son was young. But I remember when I was little, and saw my father, who was in no way an abusive man, take me little nephew to the toilet, and stick his head in it! My nephew never, ever, was bad to his granfather( my dad) again! LOL( toilet was clean thank God!)

Knew someone who did this to their kid, he got really sick, not a good idea. I think spanking, time out or just a firm talking to is much better then possibly poisoning your child.
