Are you under the care of a pain management doctor? I certainly understand not wanting to be on strong pain medication, bu perhaps you could "experiment" with some other medications and try to find one that is strong enough to deal with your pain, but won't make you as "loopy" as some medications do. Also certain pain patches may be of some assistance. I find that they tend to numb the affected area a bit and provide some relief.

If you don't want to go the "drug" route, you may want to try massage therapy. You could look for a therapist that works in conjunction with a chiropractor. They would most likely have a pretty good idea of what to do. They can work on the muscles surrounding that area which can help relieve the pain. With TOS it's best to set up a schedule of weekly appointments. Otherwise you might want to try a chiropractor or acupuncture.

Instead of the drugs see a neurologist, he can manipulate the nerves at times, sometimes with some surgery to bring relief. This won't get better, best to see him now. Quit the drugs unless absolutely necessary.

Wow... that serious pain. Your doctor could bump you up to Vicodin, which may help your pain. Morphine could make you lucid, taking you away from your daily functions.
